2 Playstations, 1 Router (Linksys Wireless-G), Tons of hell.

I set up a media server that me and my neghbor share. We're both connected to one wireless router thats hooked into a cable modem and the media server (I.E: Computer with TVersity installed)

Now, the problem is, we both keep having network errors, only when we're BOTH online at the same time.

If he shuts his PS3 off, mine works fine, and vice versa. But when we're both on, we get bumped off PSN constantly. The media server itself runs fine with both of us on it, but we can't stay connected to the PSN at all. I've tried opening ports, setting up DMZs and updating firmware. No anvil.

Also, I've noticed that most of the time if he tries to login while i'm already logged in to the PSN, I'll getting booted out. (or vise versa) unless we're both not already logged in. Then one of us will eventually drop about 10 minutes later.

I can't seem to find any solution. It's makiing using the PSN/PS3 Browser almost pointless

Wow... there are A LOT of threads like this that I have seen lately! With that in mind... I have only one solution for you... get a wired router with two seperate connections!!! I hate playing ppl with a wireless connection on motorstorm or any other game for that matter... you can tell because they keep on skipping positions back and forth... HARD WIRED CONNECTION is the way to go!

Re: 2 Playstations, 1 Router (Linksys Wireless-G), Tons of hell.

The router itself is sitting next to my PS3 (connected wireless ATM because I was troubleshooting). But the old setup was my PS3 hardwired into the router and my neghbor's was wireless with 70-90% connection quality.

So I know it's not a packet loss issue or atleast mine, when it was wired in, would of never dropped.

Try giving your ps3's static ip addy's outside the DHCP range... this might help... helped me.

No go, didnt fix it

Infact, I just noticed that one PS3 will always get Nat 3, when the other gets 2 (depending on who hops on first)

Re: 2 Playstations, 1 Router (Linksys Wireless-G), Tons of hell.

First off MOST routers only one DMZ IP address. If this isn't how you have it set up then this is how you are going to have to do it.

Set PS3 #1 a static IP address  - 192.168.1.90
Set PS3 #2 a static IP address - 192.168.1.95

In the router

 set the DMZ as 192.168.1.90
 Forward ALL ports to 192.168.1.95

What this will do is basically DMZ both PS3s.

The errors you are stating make it sound as though are assigning both PS3's the same IP address, you cannot do this. They have to have their own IP address.

Re: 2 Playstations, 1 Router (Linksys Wireless-G), Tons of hell.

I have one setup as 192.168.1.200 and the other as 192.168.1.201.

But wouldn't setting one to a DMZ and then forwording ALL ports to the other just end up making the one in the DMZ get completely blocked? If the router tries to send everything to the non-DMZ'ed PS3 I would think the one in the DMZ would never receive anything, even if it is wide open.

have you updated your routers firmware, they had fixes for routers using port forwarding and dmz at the same time ,1 would knock out the other ,wouldnt hurt to update it anyway would probably cure the problem!

I have never had this issue but the router does NAT, it doesn't just forward all packets to DMZ. It determines what private IP address, whether it would be 200 or 201 and sends it to that device.
