I have 2 PS4 controllers, I've played probably 40 hours between the 2, on one controller the rubber is split on the left analog stick and I can see shavings all over it. Called sony and they said it's normal wear and tear and they won't replace it, seems pretty ridiculous that a $60 controller is only supposed to hold up for a couple weeks. My 360 and PS2 controllers never did this. Only time this happened was with a crappy 3rd party controller and they responded to my email the same day and replaced it with a brand new one.
Yeah, It seems like a BS excuse, after spending $460 on hardware and $120 on games I expected better customer service. The sticks are still black, camera flash just makes them look gray. They are a bit deformed though, especially the left stick.
Yeah I would contact them again to see if you can get someone different to actually take this serious and see if you are able to send them a screenshoot of your picture you posted(try opening a chat with them maybe) because if my control was doing that I sure wouldn't be happy either. I'm sure that doesn't feel good on your thumb either.
yah my problem was with my controller too but was the R2 trigger seems like a hinge broke on it, i had a feeling with how they made theses triggers it would cause your pressing it more from side then straight down
