Sony Pulse Elite Headset - Wired Connection Support for PS4

So I know the headset wasn't going to be supported at launch using the wireless USB connection.  But these headsets do come with a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.  Is there a way, outside of the wireless USB connection, to connect these headphones using a wired connection?  I tried connecting the headset using the jack to the PS4 controller, but nothing happened.  Do I need to change the audio settings output on the PS4 or am I completely out of luck and just need to wait for the patch.  BTW, a friend of mine talked with their Sony rep at Gamestop and he mentioned the patch wouldn't be out until February 2014.  That would suck.  Any help would be appreciated out there.  Thanks.
