R & C 1: Last boss fight

Lazy girl has a question: are there any checkpoints during the last boss fight with Drek on R & C 1?  If so, where are they?  I'm getting totally frustrated.  I did the easy money trick and earned the R.Y.N.O., and the parts shooting Drek are a piece of cake.  But all that jumping and swinging with those falling platforms is absolutely ridiculous.  Sometimes they fall even before I've touched them and it's making me mad.  I've only gotten to the third segment with Drek.  Lame.  Help?

No, there are no checkpoints.  That's what makes him so hard.

,

When it's time to cross the platforms, Drek will back off.  This gives you time to ready the Swingshot.  Also, orient the camera angle so that you are looking ahead.  It's hard to jump these sideways.

,

Don't be afraid to pause the game.  Sometimes it helps to pause and re-assess where everything is.

,

Make sure to use Clank's rocket pack.  This lets you cover more distance in the air before hitting a satellite dish.  You want to come down on the far edge if possible before jumping.  There's not a lot of room for dawdling and loitering.  Watch the timing of the falling dishes.  Get a feel for when they are about to drop.

,

The final platform Drek will fight you on looks different than the rest.  It isn't made of rock.  It's a nice looking professional platform.  It looks nothing like the others.

,

And watch out for the very last jumping dish before you reach this final platform.  It will prematurely drop for no reason while you're in the air.  Ignore it.  You will never be able to land on it.  Pretend it's not there.  Jump over it and go straight for the main platform.

,

Good luck.

I have some tips. Keep moving, and follow him all the time. You cannot stop moving in this battle. You have to keep moving or there will be the slight chance that you might fall and die. When he is moving, keep shooting R.Y.N.O ammo at him. You have plenty to beat him. Also, try and keep jumping around too. It helps your chance to actually move from platform to platform quickly, you know, just incase the unthinkable happens.

Re: R & C 1: Last boss fight

Ok, that's actually encouraging because it sounds like maybe I am almost there.  I did a "falling-platform" section, then went a round with Drek.  Then another section, and another round with Drek.  Once, I actually reached the third section with Drek and got killed right away.  But it was a smooth metal platform like Dr. Gadget said.  So is that the final area where I fight Drek and try to drain the last four parts of his health?  I hope there is no more of that stupid jumping involved.  Yeah, I was having trouble with that very last platform you mentioned.  I thought I was doing something wrong.  Maybe I can actually beat this game.

Should I just use the R.Y.N.O. while fighting Drek?  (It seems to work wonders so far).  Thank you!!!!

no more jumping but you will need to detonate a bomb a few times, plus the RYNO kills him in seconds but a challenge is to not use it

Re: R & C 1: Last boss fight

Okay, folks, your advice helped and I beat Drek on Saturday.  Then I made the wrong choice to not start a new game and it time-warped me to the beginning of the level which is severely lame, in my opinion.

So is the idea that you're supposed to finish everything else you want to finish (ie. getting a bunch of Gold Bolts) before you go to fight Drek?  Wish I'd known that.  Thought it might be like Jak & Daxter: T.P.L., where you can fight the last boss and then go back and finish anything else you needed.

What happens after you beat him and start a new game?  Do you keep your Gold Bolts for the new game?  Do you start over with only your wrench?

When you choose to start a new game, you will start off just like you did the first time, only you will have access to all of the weapons you had previously, and all of your bolts.  Replaying will allow you to collect any Gold Bolts and Skill Points that you may have missed.  Also, by starting a new game with all of your weapons and bolts, you can have access to all of the Gold Weapons that can be purchased.  You can buy each improved weapon version for four Gold Bolts apiece plus a certain amount of regular bolts.

Yes, I think you should use the R.Y.N.O. because it makes the fight go alot faster. After you beat the game once, the Golden Tesla Claw is incredibly powerful. Good Luck:smileyhappy:

What bolt trick? The one on Quarty, the one on Rilgar or is there another one? Just wondering.

Re: R & C 1: Last boss fight

i think there was one where if you stand still in the game for an hour, you'll get 10,000 bolts.

i'm not sure, though, and no one yet has given me a straight awnser
