Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault

I am not very fond of the new game. I played the demo. The gameplay was so different from classic Ratchet and Clank. Slight changes are fine, but this game went too far. I am also not a fan of the new design. The style of the games is very different than what I am used to for the series. Overall, I am just a little disappointed by the new game. Does anyone else feel the same way?
Also, would like to add that I have played all of the major Ratchet and Clank games other than Quest for Booty and All for One, if that counts. I do enjoy the series as a whole (my favorites are Up Your Arsenal and A Crack in Time).
However, in the end, I still might buy this game because it is very cheap, and I may be willing to give it a second chance.

Re: Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault

When I first bought it on PSN I thought it was kind of wierd too. The gameplay reminds me of the multiplayer Siege mode in Ratchet and Clank 3. I am sure you know about that since one of your favorite Ratchet and Clank games is that. The game has the upgradable weapons if that wasn't in the demo and the campaign mode is like doing a normal ratchet and clank mission while still coming back to protect your base. Its definetly not my favorite ratchet and Clank game, but it is not the worst. (Not counting Size Matters or Secret agent clank which are the worst ones in m opinion)

Re: Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault

^ Of course I remember Siege mode. I guess it's a little like that. Based on your review, it doesn't sound like the full game is anything remarkable. Idk. I am excited for the Deadlocked HD rerelease though. When it was first released, it wasn't my favorite. I think that was mainly because it followed Up Your Arsenal. However, several years later, I went back and finished it. It was actually quite enjoyable. I wouldn't mind playing it again. Once it's released, I want to buy Quest for Booty then replay the whole series from the first to A Crack in Time, start to finish. Haha that would take a while. I'm considering replaying the whole Sly series next month in preparation for Thieves in Time!!! I'm so excited. Wish they could make a new game for Jak too. Anyway, that's a different thread on a different section on the forums haha.

Re: Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault

I wanted to play the Ratchet and Clank games start-to-finish as well, but the third game on HD glitches for me and The PSP and deadlocked got stolen so I can't play those.

Re: Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault

The Ratchet series has always thrown in new elements to change things up, I think Insomniac tries to keep things fresh that way. Sometimes they fail but I think they succeeded with Full Frontal Assault. Try to see FFA for what it is and not for what it isn't. Look at it in the same way you were able to appreciate Deadlocked after you had some time away  from it (and from Up Your Arsenal).

I like the Looney Tunes cartoons from the 40's and 50's but I can also appreciate the new Looney Tunes Show. It's totally different, features the same characters we've loved for years  and it's  still funny. I take the same attitude with comparing Full Frontal Assault to the earlier games.

Also: campaign mode in Full Frontal Assault is better with 2 players, I'm going online now to drum up a multiplayer game. I'm BR4CR on PSN if you're looking to play some co-op or competitive online.

BR4CR, thank you for your input. In the end, I think I will end up buying the game because of its price and because it's Ratchet and Clank, after all.

Re: Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault

I think we can all agree that FFA isn't blowing anyone away, but I've actually quite enjoyed it. It's a fun little distraction, and it actually got me back into the series after losing interest years ago. It may not be the classic Ratchet & Clank gameplay we all want to see, but I'm glad I got it.
