Hey everyone! I found some amazing news for fans of the Dot Hack// series, It appears that theres going to be a new Dot Hack// game for the PS3, that's right! THE PS3! Finally just when I thought Cyberconnect 2 gave up on the series, they surprised us with this! As a Dot Hack fan I'm jumping up and down like a little school girl lol because I been waiting for an announcement like this for a long long time and now its finally here. It appears that the game is being made as a sequel to the new upcoming "Dot Hack// Beyond the World" movie and it also seems Haseo will be making his return to the series. I can't read the original article from work, so two questions.
1) Has it been announced for North America?
and
2) Since this is in relation to a movie... can the game be played, and understood, by people who have no idea what .hack is?
I've played the very first game, so I have let's say the very basic introduction to the theme of the .hack universe but that's it. I wanted to watch the DVDs but they were not avalible on Netflix. Now there are so many, I wouldn't know where to start =0
1. Unfortunately there hasn't been any news of a North American release, however it is VERY likely that it will be brought to the states since the first series of Dot Hack// Infection and second series of Dot Hack// G.U has been released in North America, Haseo was the protagonist of the G.U. series and is expected to make a return in the upcoming title, so I'm positive that they won't leave us empty handed.
2. Well fortunately for you since it is based off the movie, I don't think you'll need to know much about the series because the movie was made for a wider audience so it will probably have a new beginning to bring newcomers into the series, therefor the game is probably developed with the same intention. Also if you want to catch up atleast with the G.U. series, I recommend watching the anime "Dot Hack// Roots" which only runs 26 episodes and then watch "Dot Hack// Trilogy" which is a movie that's completely based off the G.U games (the movie is basically a copy of all the scenes and events that happened in the G.U. games and crams them all into a single movie, so that eliminates the problem of not playing the games). After watching those mentioned above, you'll catch up in no time.
