Re: Why is Socom 3 worse than Socom II?      Here are a few of my observations.  The "game feel" and "game play" stayed the same from Socom I to Socom II.  Socom II added many new features (clan, friends list, talking in game lobby, map name/game mode etc before entering a game, and so on), weapons, skins, two new game modes etc.  It was the same but expanded...exactly what we wanted.  We also wanted the hit detection tweaked ever so slightly for Socom II...well we know they tried and it didn't work out so well.  I agree I thought After Hours, Last Bastion, and Liberation were  just a taste of things to come and I was positive things were going to be awesome for Socom 3.  The "game feel" and "game play" changed from Socom II to Socom 3 and it caught a lot of people off guard.  Seeing the change from Socom I to Socom II I had been confident for Socom 3.  I do feel that because after Socom II the development team changed and they used a new engine to build the game it changed the "game feel" and "game play".  In 3rd person the camera doesn't follow your character the same...it's slower to react.  The controls are more sluggish even with acceleration and look speed cranked all the way up.  I agree Socom 3's maps even on all the different game modes are bland and thats not to mention interactive environments which took a large step backward.   Socom II  bushes moved when you walked thru them, could shoot out most windows, kick open some doors, randomly place C-4,  cut wires (enowapi), actually jump on feasible things without hitting that invisible wall., airstrikes, and so on.  I expected Socom 3 to be Socom II with new maps, day/night feature, weapon custimization, vehicles, swimming, 32 players etc.  For those who say new game why would "game feel" and "game play" stay the same it was supposed to change etc...it is holding the name Socom 3 it was not supposed to change.  It was supposed to expand on the previous two.   I like almost all the new features in Socom 3.  weapons fire rate, scope view and things I mentioned earlier but am still can't get around the "game feel" and "game play" not to mention all the other inconsistencies....mics not working, ghillie suits going pink and blue.   How vehicles drive up cliffs or don't blow up when they fly off a cliff.  Come on.  Also there was nothing wrong with Extraction and Escort there was no reason to mess with that at all.  For those who say you can die in 5 seconds on Socom II same is true with Socom 3 especially on small maps and respawn.  Boom sniped.  Think Harvester and Devils Road small.  Hardly time to run for cover.  I hope they are bringing back the Socom I and II development team for Socom 4.  Please.   The way he phrased it "Drastic Change" now scares the hell out of me.   I might be able to except the drastic change if it means the SEALs will always be out numbered.  I like the challenge or that they are going to do away with inter player rank.

They were forums inside the game for a minute wonder why I heard no1 crying for S2?? I don't recall anyone even caring about S2 it was all about good/bad aspects S3 had. Wierd I don't take this site serious. You just don't know what type of people your likely to talk to on the internet. Wierd how I could search google Socom, release date, search glitches, search how to stop codes without this site popping up..

off topic

Was this actually a site? or just part of Playstation? How do people have Ps3 names now and then?? I don't get it could you tell me everything about this site. Im a huge Socom fan and everything just don't make since.

Most people didn't use the in game forums on Socom 3, to most people around since Socom I it was an un-needed feature.  If you go back and look at my post you see everyone caring about Socom II through the entire franchise.  It is the standard that all Socoms after it have been compared.  The only really major problem with Socom II only came at the very end of the game life cycle, and that is when hackers found out how to get past the DNAS security.

Yes, this site has been around since the beginning.  There was always the playstation forums and then there was the E-SEALs website, which had their own forums as well.  I believe it was when Confrontation was coming out that they merged the E-SEALs website with the Socom.com.  The forums were merged with the playstation Socom forums.  All of this has been around since he beginning.  My name is Socom II started out as Got Ink? and then when they released the patch and reset the states I shortened it  to x-INK-x because everyone just called me INK any way.  I believe INK was always a part of my forum name but to answer your question when they merged PSN with the playstation.com and the forums, EVERYONE's user name changed to their PSN name.

If you truely are a Socom fan, go back through at look at my post history.. see what people were talking about through all the years of Socom since the beginning.

Thanks but this site means nothing to Socom.  I played Socom3 every night. Majority of the people on S3 within the forums like playing S3 even listening on my mic was all positive. None of the stuff you people say on here defines what Socom 3 was. Im guessing people on here decided to hate on it cause of the new consoles. Just to have something to talk about.. I had one friend that dislike S3 but he was basically on S3 for like a week until he just told me he's done, he likes S2 more alot more. I don't fault him but don't just give some random BS. I figured he must've just rented it cause of the new consoles. I also remember at the end of S2 people saying Snow mobiles and ATV was coming in S3. People were excited, exactly what I wanted back then.( though no Snow mobiles was a dissatisfaction ) Why people saying adding vehicles was random and terrible on here really don't understand it.

So the guys who played Socom 3 don't have a say in this?? Rather its you so called fans who only played Socom 1&2, rented S3 then left the franchise to play Xbox360, Most of you are X microsoft fanboys, some still is some Xbots. No wonder why this place is a joke.. I guess if most of you guys piggy back off text you supported about S3 6yrs ago it makes you legit in your mind. Only seems like the right thing to do is come back again perfect chance, since your still part of the top fan club.

I played Socom 1, 2 & 3, Im just simply chosen not to be blinded by S2 anymore, like S3 isn't better.

You hated Socom 3 cause you bought the Xbox360 on release. The fact Socom is a Playstation Exclusive you couldn't help yourself to troll on S3. You and many others trolled on here, disliking anything Socom 3. I get it Xbox360 was released a month after Socom 3 was released. Socom 3 isn't not Socom cause of broke people who couldn't afford Socom3 and Xbox360. So you buy a Xbox360 turned into Xbox fan leave the Socom franchise. Then you keep supporting S3 not being Socom that way it's alright for you to come back without being a low level fan. Then have a smile on your face saying S3 isn't Socom cause you didn't play it!!!?

Really SOCOM 3 gameplay is almost the same as SOCOM 2, but with less problems.

Only things that are different are listed below

  • Run and throw grenade
  • Walk around bent down with rocket launch out (SOCOM 2 you only can move 2 steps before it get put away)
  • Weapons have wight (Something Zipper should have added a option to turn this off if you do not like it)

Really i think people just can't take little changes. I can see why no one like SOCOM 4 that nothing like SOCOM, but SOCOM 3 still have the SOCOM core. I think should been more modes for small maps. That the only big thing i can say Zipper did wrong with SOCOM 3.

You're out of your tree if you think SOCOM II played anything like SOCOM 3... Gunplay was drastically shifted from the skill side to the luck side, movement and jumping are completely different, maps were very VERY poorly designed and rules for the gamemodes were altered rendering them almost unplayable such as extraction (my favorite game mode) and escort; the suppression rules shifted back to SI is a debateable change. There is a lot more I could add, but I'm not in the mood to rant as this post is old. That comment just ruffled my feathers a bit....

Some of us played SOCOM 3 every night, but many stopped playing because of SOCOM 3.  My clan lost a good third of its members because of SOCOM 3, and that's just fact.  It was a drastic departure from 2, as much as 4 was.  The release of SOCOM 3 was the death knell for the series, and its been slowly dying ever since.

I remember what people once said, that Halo and CounterStrike were SOCOM killers, but the truth is/was, SOCOM killed itself.

Reading all this I have to agree Socom 3 was not the best Socom but the shame is Socom 4 made Socom 3 look like a great socom.  Well almost.   Amazing where this franchise ended up!  I just hope we get to see it resurrected to the great game it was at some point??
