It's debatable to say that Socom is dead or even dying. I've been playing Socom 2 since like '05 when there were more than 30k people on at a time. Now there's about 100-120 people on at a time but I don't think that number will change anytime soon because it's been steady for the past year. I hardly play Socom CA but I know that game has even more while Socom 1 has less.
But within the 100 or so people who still play lies several nice communities (from s1, s2 and s3). Shutting down socom servers would possibly destroy what we have built.
Post here since the thread that announced the news is locked.
Also, if you are reading this, I can assume that you're a fan of socom. If that's true, you should get on and enjoy the last moments that the game will be available. Maybe we will finally see US East 2 for the first time in years.

The least Sony can do for failing all socom fans is keep the classic socom servers online. Personally I only play Socom 2 but there are still people on S1, S3/CA. Great communities that have hung on to their favorite Socoms. If you are going to take S1/S2 offline than at least give us a PS3 HD release. Best game ever made!
