Re: "SOCOM: Legacy" the end all be all off SOCOM games

Apr 25, 2011

OP I think they should let you make the next socom, I'd pay $100 to play that game. You did miss a couple things though. I'd like to see under hand nades, and sixaxis nade distance control like in confrontation, also the extra ducking feature with the sixaxis.

if its limited to one mode it offers different ways to attack it but if another mode so happens to work with the map its all good and thats how they were on socom 1 and 2

on socom 1 and 2 it was game mode specific on each map.  being able to play different modes on maps brings the maps a lot of different playability.  some one mentioned they liked control points on cross roads and personally i hate control points and think they were a cheap star wars battlefront rip off.  but to each his own, if someone likes control points on a map and i like breach, that was the beauty about socom, we could play what we liked and thought was fun.  different game modes didnt ruin maps and wouldnt ruin design of maps either.  zipper is what ruined socom!

And of course no vehicels.

forward this to ubisoft, they are making a new rainbow six, wouldn't it be cool if it was more like socom??  they have some similar things, 3rd person tatical shooter, RB6 is just close couters, they both NOW use ecover, maybe they could take some pointers from this and resurect it, cause i loved rainbow six, they did cover system right with cameras and poping out guns, gun prgression and terroist hunt was an awesome addition to game modes, also AI was pretty damn cool if you put your team in the right position it would kill or save you, not like S4 i don't think it matters.  enemy AI was budge but what games doesn't have that.

playing socom is making me miss vegas rather than old socom

The "fire at will" order works pretty damn well on SOCOM II. I hear "pft pft pft pft" "TANGO DOWN!"

Re: "SOCOM: Legacy" the end all be all off SOCOM games

This would be amazing, though I feel this would be quite expensive to produce. Considering they would have to create a SOCOM I / II engine for the PS3, then make all of the PSP games and SOCOM 3 / CA playable on that engine. That being said I would definitely buy this game for any price if they could pull this off.

A few things I'd like to mention though is that i don't think the vehicles are what ruined SOCOM 3, I feel that with the old gameplay engine the vehicles will be a fine addition. If the SOCOM 3 / CA maps are going to be in the game, the vehicles should definitely be included unless otherwise removed in UCRR's.

Another thing, create maps with ONE game mode in mind. Make these maps take strategy to play again, if another game mode just happens to be a good fit for the map after development, then let it be playable for that game mode. So for example when choosing maps for a created room, the default game mode would be the mode that the map was created for (Fishhook-Extract   Crosssroads-Demolition   The Mixer-Escort ect...) and then the creator can go in and change the game mode from there, but at least we know what game mode is supposed to be played on that map.

Lastly, I'm all for weapon customization, but lets not make every single gun in the game suppressable. I loved hearing all of those beautiful clacks in the distance that you developers worked so hard on to capture. I also like the weapon balance in the first two SOCOM's where most would say the SEALs had the better weaponry (which is probably the way it usually goes in actuality) the terrorists usually had the advantage on the map (SEALs usually attack terrorists on the terrorists' own land correct?). I know not every map was terrorist favored, I'm just saying that many of the maps made up for the slight disadvantage of the terrorist armory.

This coming from a SOCOMer since 2002, I hope you guys feel the same way.

I dont think EVERY weapon should get a suppressor.  Just the ones that make sense.  I'd also prefer open weapons and attachments rather than some terrible mod system.

They also don't need a new engine.  They just need to modify the current one and remove Move support so we can actually have recoil rather than laser guns.  They might need to add some doors though.  :smileyvery-happy:

If the maps are as big as the Socom I/II maps no problem. Don't need this crappy Socom III maps were everybody was camping. Harvester for eample was horrible because most time it was a tie because you could not find the remaining enemy.
