You know, that's the typical gamer response, "the game is broken". If it's "broken coding" then why did the game update for other people until a couple days ago?

Well, while everyone is playing the outraged gamer card, I was busy finding a solution. What's that you say? Someone actually had the impetus to take matters into his own hands, and solve this problem himself? Why... that's not the "gamer way"! Yes, I may have violated the Great Tenets of Gamer Logic by showing some initiative, and not just complaining, but actually taking action! I will deal with the reprecussions later.

What's the solution you may be asking? Okay, pay attention. There's three easy steps;

1. Go into your Game Data Utility and delete the SOCOM 4 game data. DO NOT DELETE THE SAVE DATA.
2. Reinstall the game. The game will prompt you to install version 1.05, and click "Yes".
3. This may be the most difficult for some; WAIT. The game will reinstall. Then it will download Three updates in the following sizes; 447mbs. 28mbs. 58mbs. And finally 127mbs.
4. Let the game finish it's installation. I know, I know, as Tom Petty said, the waiting is the hardest part.
5. Enjoy your game!

That's it ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. I have accomplished what your outrage couldn't. You can thank me later.

im having the same problem, but now it just freezes at the searching for updates. i thought i had progress becuase i restarted my ps3 and started the game. at this point it started from where the update left off. but s=after 2 hours it froze again. i would really like to play this game. i just bought it and this tru;y disappointing.

It's truly sad, some of us have this issue. try clearing your web browser cache, if that doesn't work, Try what Albator said It takes four forevers, do it as a last resort to save time if you can.

Actually, Fuzzy_Wolf-SKM is partially right. It's not so much that it's broken code, but incorrect error handling and fault tolerence. I've been experiencing this issue since the patch was released, but clearing the browser's cache didn't work. Looks like I'll have to delete the game data and try it again. I was looking forward to playing SOCOM tonight... but it looks like that's not going to happen which really pisses me off.

HEy, I have tried everything listed on this site to fix this problem and it still freezez on me after downloading the 4/4 anyway i can download everything onto a USB drive and plug it into the PS3?  call  me at 954 962 5892 if you can help   thanks

I bought this game and now i cant play it because the update stalls, what a waste of money and time, I dont think you'll get any purchases on your next title as high as the rest, fix it now dilweeds

I just bought it this past Sunday and had problems with the update...but the PSN was down all day. Monday (yesterday) everything installed fine once the PSN came back up.
