Trouble starting game

The first thing is obviously to open the game with the X button.

Then the controller comes on and an image of the player ( you ) appears.

You're asked to aim the controller at the camera and then an icon on the screen. You point and hold down the Move button.

Then you select "new game" with the X button.

If you touch the X button or Move button the difficulty with change. I don't know how to go back to another difficulty selection.

How do you then select Start? How do you move from the difficulty selection to Start?

The navigation controller works before the game is selected. But when the game is selected even though the status indicator is lit red I can't use the stick to scroll down to Start.

I was able to use a PS3 controller to select Start.

But, after turning the PS3 controller off, I could not use the L button on the navigator to move the character, although I clould make him jump by pressing X.

I had to select the difficulty with the PS3 controller and then reassign the Move Navigator Controller to #1 to get functionality with the L button on the Move navigator.

I can move the character now.

If I quit the game and start again, I have to use the PS3 controller; then the navigator which is set at 6 has to be reset to 1 in order to play. If the game weren't fun I'd return it.

I am now no longer using the PS3 contoller. When I start the game I first go to accessories and reassign my navigator from 6 to 1. Then I can select "continue" by using the navigator and have functionality in controlling the game.
