Also as an update if you buy an 80 Gig that was made after July 10th it will not be backwards compatible at all, after that date the 80 Gig dropped in price by $100 and removed its backwards compatibility all together.

wenis quit trolling. to OP,the 80gb only has 85% BC. many hit titles are still flawed.i'm not.. like you said the 80gb has only 85%.. 40gb and 20gb don't even have any. not sure how good the 60gb is.
As for Battlefront in particular, I've heard that it's one of the ones that has had issues on the PS3. Personally I'd suggest picking up a cheap used PS2 so that you can play your Battlefront game, it's worth it, plus you'd be able to play all your other PS2 games without worrying if it will work or not.
DVM, you forgot that the 40Gb plays PS1 titles aswell, I have a 40Gb and I play Road Rash on it.

Do you have the Greatest Hits version of SWBFII? Because Greatest Hits games sometimes wont work on the PS3, even the 60 gb, due to a change in the coding.

Not exactly correct The original PS3, the 20gb and the 60gb both have the best compatibility with PS2 games with emulation done through a harware chip. Both the motorstorm and MGS4 80gb PS3s have emulation done through software so the compatibility is worse. The 40gb, new 80gb, and 160gb do not have any compatibility with PS2 games, but I'm pretty sure every PS3 can play PS1 games.
Also you can check compatibility status here

For the 80gb:

It must be because its a greatest hit game. I still regularly play SWB2 on my 80GB (lol 74 i should say) PS3 and get no problems. Try buying a used original copy, if u can find it. Good Luck man. Battlefront 3 where are u ??

In case anyone from Sony is keeping track my Greatest Hits Star Wars Battlefront 2 freezes after 5 minutes on my 80GB PS3.
I see this is reoccuring in threads but Sony won't admit the problem.
