Also try the Port Scan in your settings when you are online in a room. Do it several times over the course of the game (like every death?). And if you get lucky, try to port scan when the game is flipping out and report back here with your resualts.
As for spit screening, not possible. But as an alternate solution, create an alternate account and play with them in a private room or bublic room because you cant splitscreen without being signed in.

Not funny. This is a real problem. Did you get the game from PSN or disk? One of the updates for the psn version has a small percent chance of causing an error that disconnects the player from the starhawk servers.
