Airship (or dropship) Thread

34 replies 177 views Edited Jun 1, 2012

Finished my video, added some ui to make it more Starhawky. Volume may be a bit loud for the wind, and did not have time to add other sounds. Ok if yall are not too busy posting meme or update threads love to see your ideas for a ship.

Oh here is my LBP 2 level with some of the vehicles dynamics I would love...

I don't know how animation stuff works, but that's awesome. I haven't really thought about huge ships in Starhawk, but it'd be cool if there was a big map/mode that utilized them.

edit: wtf you made that?! That's insane!

EkuquoL

That would be a cool deathmatch level..

IF they ever make a infantry deathmatch mode..

I thought it be cool if they added a lil Destroy-the-base

mission where you go out and destroy the other spaceship too..

What did you make that on? Looks sort of like a Quake3 map editor..

If you like making stuff like that.. check out Bryce

  http://www.daz3d.com/products/bryce/bryce-what-is-bryce

You can make animations with Bryce... It takes a while to learn, but it

has all sorts of neat lighting features... Physics terrain algorithms and bunch

of neat stuff... FOR FREE

You can also make records, CGI cut scenes with it.. Takes some learning but

I believe thrs a tutorial for all that.. Check it out.

Its not malware... They been around A LONG time, they use to be only known

for Bryce3d but they've still kept their software free and changed some names..

Exactly, having mobile bases over the maps would speed up...and even let campers move. I hate how there is no real team vehicles that become much more powerful with more players versus more points for the hawk that kills it for more players.

@Ekuquol it was maya, good for animation, but I will check out Bryce, it looks really nice.

Really? After I spent all that time building a dropship/airship idea no one else has anything to top it? Or at least tear down my idea?

This would really make for some intense battles if it was worked into the game properly. As in who would drive, how many people could fit in it, could hawks be launched out of it, etc. Kinda reminds me of star wars battlefront a little bit.

They had something like this in Warhawk. It was cool, but not used enough. Dropship 2.0 would be cool.

I admit that I didn't play warhawk all that much, but I never really found a good use for the dropships.

They were fun to fly, but never seemed practical. Well, I guess being able to pick up flag carriers was useful.

I think the issue with the dropships was no exit for passengers, no good weapons, and thus no control. I tired to join them (if the drivers ever waited) but the single missile was very weak. If they gave it the drop out and the spawn in of the APC then more people would have used it.  Also it really did make the cft matches...but some people were annoyed they never got points for being a taxi.

They had those massive ships I liked, but if memory is the issue, then this one is smaller, but big enough to launch out hawks, jeeps and such. I think players would be happy as long as each player that used it felt like they could do something and were not at the whim of the pilot. Also it would need a weak spot at the underside to avoid the base ravaging abuse.
