U3 is just plagued with a populist attitude that this game also had just never the fanbase to back it up. Only reason that game survives is because they have an in built fanbase. The fact that they built this fanbase on hardcores in U2, and they betrayed them basically and made that game into a COD fest after 1.05 (they even admit this) and are now selling their souls for everything they are worth should tell you just as much.
If there is one thing I admire about Jobe and Co. is that they didn't charge extra for maps. I give that guy all the kudos in the world for that. U3 is just a populist shilling mechanism to addict people to its awful noobified bull****. I am actually considering getting Starhawk after playing that again.
Teh summer beta last year for that game was awesome. Then they just did a 180 and made the game into some perk/skill/modfest where everything has been imbalanced since. Rate of Fire M9s dominate the game. The longe range non snipers have been nerfed because the whiners in the community could not handle being worked. Nades do riduculous damage. The buddy spawning is just stupid imo and never works in games very well. The lag oh god the lag. I regularly play with people from France and Mexico all the time even though I have a 3/30 connection. The blindfire is atrocious and combined with rate of fire mods and lag is just insanely cheesy.
All they wanted was money on that game. I never even tried it until Amazon had a sale on the GOTY and luckily for me messed up my order and basically gave it to me for free. Game is worse than Starhawk though good god some of those maps like Graveyard with the water are beautiful. They really are the super devs of the PS3 considering how ancient it is.
