This is just a little helper for some of the people that are tired of the base raping on Orbit. I know this is FAR from the worst stage for this to happen on but it does happen. Here's what I do.....
There are a few small things you will need in order to get this done and I understand that when you're being destroyed it's hard to set up any structures but persistence will prevail! Do these things in stages if you have to!
First make sure you get a jet pack!
Next you'll need the MAW and the mines would help IF it's possible!
Now one thing to understand.....the reason you're being destroyed is because you're out in the open and fair game for anyone with a hawk or jet pack BUT if you make the fight come to you ON YOUR TERMS then you will rack up some kills.
Once you have the things above make your way UNDER the structures. Not the flying below the map thing but on the bottom side of the map.....where the Torpedo is if you were in a hawk.
VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure you know where you are landing and where you can return to reload ammo. The ammo boxes on the far right and far left of the map are great refilling stations. Of course you will have to come up to get them but they are right on the edge so it's fairly simple.
Now once you are under find you a good little lip to perch on. Nothing down there is big enough for a Hawk to land on but they CAN shoot you so make sure you can dash around a corner if needed! I like to place 2 mines on either side of me so if a hawk tries to get close, and they will, the mines will eliminate that problem.
Now you can sit down there and fire off at Hawks all day if you refill where I said above.
Just a few tips- If you can sniper fairly well this is the place to do it!
There are a FEW spots you can set up a torrent to help you.
Best skills to use down there is extra ammo or quick lock!

Oh the sniper tower CTF tactic?
Ok-
I'll make it short but easy:
In CTF..... when starting off while everyone is rushing to get to the other base make it your priority to get the mines. Obviously you can't and won't always be first but try and be. Spawning way out will help obviously. Once you have the mines make your way back to YOUR base asap. Place 1 mine on the flag to protect it while you're setting up. First setup the bunker, which should be setup by this time but not always. If you do set it up make sure the flag is to your left so you don't block the view from inside the bunker of the flag by the ladder. Refill your mines and get the MAW.
Next setup a sniper tower CLOSE to the flag. Its best to make sure the ladder is facing the flag. Climb 1/2 way up the ladder and jump off. As you're falling throw a mine on the ladder. This stops those people using a simple grenade to remove it and they won't pay attention if you place a single torrent at the bottom of the ladder.
Now the torrent will work 1 of 2 ways. You'll have those people who will say screw the torrent and run up the ladder after you and kaboom. And you'll have those people who will destroy the torrent giving you time to place a well aimed shot from the MAW on them.
If you placed everything correctly you will be able to sit on the sniper tower and pick off everyone who comes near your flag. The ammo box will allow you to stay up there and refill your mines.
Once you have built up your rift the last part and a crucial part is the shield. Place the shield between the bunker and the flag. This will allow you to blast away any of those bruiser types......which will be gone soon. Of course a mine on the shield helps.
I have found this to be the best setup for me. I've even had teammates destroy my sniper tower because I was going 20-0 and they weren't getting any kills HA!
One thing to keep in mind is that this needs to be a team of at least 2 thing but it CAN work with one. I like to have one guy on top of the bunker and me on the sniper to keep any random tanks out. They will be your biggest enemy.
