It doesn't affect someones skill in a Hawk whatsoever, also, CAF does have its own 'Backlock' but as Arvada said its 'Sidelock' and is even more difficult to pull off.
It isn't a matter of being better than anyone by not using shield or steath but by not using it you will become a better overall pilot because you have to think about what you are doing and how you are going to accomplish it. I will use shield if there are a million flak turrets on the ground and i have to fly over them, but i don't use it in A2A situations. I also don't spin constantly when i am in the air either.

I invite ANY AF pilot to show me how easy CAF is. I'll teach you what I know then once you can dodge I want you to DF with me. Since its that easy it shouldn't be hard to dodge, get pick ups and kill me.
I thought we did this last time SH was in my ps3 ![]()

Bus hates everyone that uses shield. Even once he yells at you the rest of the match. :/
He hates me, and I'm in his clan. ![]()
but to be fair I only use shield when I know he is chasing me, to **bleep** him off. ![]()

Thank you very much to the 4 of you who actually left me a video to watch on dodging. If I end up picking CAF and people give me a hard time for it I'm going to just tell them to switch and use CAF if it is really that much better and if it isn't then freaking back off.
OP if you are new to both invest the time to learn CAF. The learning curve is not as steep. To be equal to a pilot of your own level and time invested, in AF you will have to work a lot harder. AF has a more natural feel but is at a big disadvantage in this game.
Not saying one or the other will make you good automatically. Elite pilots in either flight mode will dominate lesser pilots in either mode.
..also if you want help learning AF dodging I can show you but spotting me in game is like spotting bigfoot in real life ![]()

After all it was warhawk fanatics that killed starhawk
Is it not logical that we also could have saved it?
IMO If LBI had listened and implemented more of the suggestions from the original private beta group, we would have a more complete game than we do today even after the 1.04 update. LBI made the final decisions as to what was included and what was left out. I don't see how the fanatics killed the game. I do however see, everytime I play the game, what LBI did to push an unfinished game out to market.

Longer than when I fly AF? well that would prove the poinnt no? Considering I have 3 whole hours of CAF flight under my belt. ![]()
and actually the result wasn't the same in the end when I realized that silly move I was doing because I dodged more homers than I did when I started just trying stuff. Give me a day to get that timing down and I could dodge 90-95% of all missles with it, if not more.
The short of it is it is much easier in CAF than in AF to do this. Nobody is talking about 1v1ing or goig on offfense while doing this, just talking about the scrubbing missles and the effort to do it.
And know I don't care either way, because I know it will not change and if it bothered me that much I would just use CAF.
And also I refuse to agree with Phoenix on principle alone. ![]()
