The reason warhawk was so successful was because there were no other good games at the time.I would honestly agree with this assessment, it's the same for Resistance: Fall of Man. There were very few other games, so Warhawk, Resistance, and Motorstorm were all extremely high profile. Once Sony brought out the big guns, people realized these games were not so great.
I had ridge racer, resitance, and motorstorm....then I got warhawk and stopped playing those
@ the time Warhawk was the ONLY shooter besides Resitance that was out for the ps3 itself. Sure I played a TON of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down on my ps3 but it was a PS2 game (ahem sony, backwards compatable first gen PS4, thanks
). That definately had an impact on its success.
However, the game was still very active 2 years later after a bunch of other popular (COD) shooters came out so it definately was more than just that.

Sony confirmed. PS4 is not backwards compatible. If you want to keep playing old games, keep your old hardware.
positive side though is a possibility of Gakai integration. Also, Sony is working on a pay for channel internet service. Hopefully the PS3 is forwards compatible in this regards, as I'm not ready to move on.
What's Gakai?

It's a cloud game streaming service. Think netflix, but video games.

I think game streaming is just basically, the game is streamed to your device meaning high powered hardware is not needed. I could be wrong but thats what OnLive is.
Which basically lets you play high end games on a system with bad specs.

All of them are rumours though, Sony has patented a lot of technology like a special touch screen controller (I dont know if its for the PS4 controller it could be a TV remote) a new system that makes used discs impossible to play, hopefully this wont see the light of day, it could be just for Blu-ray DVDs though.
I think they want to announce it before Microsoft announces the Xbox which will most likely be at E3.
