Re: Is a starhawk sequel realistic

Really? Starhawk is listed as the spirtual succesor to Warhawk. Its the Shadow of the Collusus and warhawk is ICO. And Starhawk is a great game so why is that an insult?

Re: Is a starhawk sequel realistic

Well Shadow is clearly the lesser game of those two in my mind. They couldn't even get that running in native 1080p on the PS3 and it still is dated anyway. Needs a full remake with a workable camera and overworld with more to do. Ico is still lovely as heaven with winged ladies and LSD.

Re: Is a starhawk sequel realistic

Will there be a starhawk2? I think most likely not. I highly enjoy this game and enjoyed Warhawk the brief time that I was involved in it.  There are great things about SH and it potential is massive. there are still some signifcant issues from the perspective of the community that I think would hinder a direct sequel. Also to me personally a sequel is a continuation of a story. SH"s story was a litlle "meh". I believe it is also far too soon to expect a sequel of any sort to be considered.

I hope there is another "hawk" game as I prefer 3rd person shooter to 1st. Hopefully with a little more support and not rushed into retail. I would ask for a better successor absolutely... but SH2? I don't think that will happen.

WarHawk was developed by Incognito (are they still around?) StarHawk was developed by Lightbox and the IP is wholly owned by Sony. The Western/Sci-fi genre is great the lead character is not just another pasty White dude and the multiplayer kicks **bleep**. Sony should contract Epic to build an epic single player story and develop the characters and improve the multi-player putting Lightbox in a secondary consulting role.

That is true, sony does own the IP and COULD make a Hawk 2 game.    Notice I said just hawk :smileytongue:

Re: Is a starhawk sequel realistic

[ Edited ]

Heres an idea.

How about they re-release Warhawk and Starhawk dual pack as an HD collection on the PS4?

They could add a few small tweeks like a higher structure limit and fix some of the biggest glitches in Warhawk.

This would not cost too much and might sell enough to create some funding for an actual sequel for one of the games.

My idea for a super version is give us enough options to play the game exactly like Starhawk or warhawk depending on selected options when creating a server.

Dont like B&B?  Unselect it and it would default to a prelaid out version where buildings are not destructable.

Want Warhawk flight with Starhawk tanks?  Etc.

If everything had a check box everyone could create servers exactly how they want including everything Starhawk and Warhawk bring to the table.

With 8GB RAM I think this would not be too difficult.  Warhawk oldtimers would be happy, Starhawk new comers would be happy, everyone wins everytime.

Call the game........ Wait for it.........ALLHAWK!!!!!  LOL.

Re: Is a starhawk sequel realistic

Be realistic, is any multiplayer perfectly balanced AND alive? I don't know any series or developer that's infamous for it's balanced, fun, and active multiplayer games. Even the best online games, from MMO's to Shooters have issues. Every shooter has something that another doesn't.

Ghost Recon - Guns and Gun Customization, Ranking and Progression, Classes
Starhawk/Warhawk - Gameplay, Flexibility in play styles, Fast Paced, Vehicles
Lost Planet - Multiple Environments, Character Customization
Uncharted - Extras like Taunts and Medals, Prestige Levels, Stat Tracking

If they mixed this and did it right, it would be the best TPS that ever existed.

By the way, Philly, your idea sounds like a perfect way to get a sequel. It just wont be by LBI of course, but it sounds very possible.

If Sony advertised the next hawk game, it would sell.

Re: Is a starhawk sequel realistic

I think another "hawk" title would be a good idea, but not a direct sequel to either of them. Putting a "2" in a title immediately raises expectations, sometimes so high that they kill the game before it ever launches.

But considering the there have been "warhawk" fans ever since the PS1 (and they lasted all the way through the PS2 without any support at all) I think the "hawk" community will probably last for many years to come, making another title almost an eventuality.

Sony can't be scared off by Starhawk forever, so as long as we keep hoping, their wallets will bring them back eventually :smileywink:
