Exactly like I said, all tactics can be countered, "If/Once" you knbow about them.

 

My point being its much easier to take a flag if the walls are frontwards, this requires no skills or special weapons.

 

What good are your frontwards walls with turrets when I have turret jammer on?  Its the same as backwards walls countered by hacker pretty much.

 

But if I know you using hacker I will try to counter that, Maybe by using hack as well? then you try to counter that making backwards walls viable once again in the same round.

 

Thats why these older tactics just like fads come in and out of relevance IMO.  Once everyone does the counter no one uses it, because of this no one does the counter so the initial tactic works again, etc.

 

I also cant usually be caught in my own trap as I usually have a JP dispenser in there or some turrets to jump on, etc.

Plus I wont have the flag making walls in either orientation almost useless.

They're good because:

 

  1) They dictatate your skill to TJ, or shoot at you from a place you cannot reach easily

  2) They provide resistance before a flag is touched

  3) They don't open up their console to any wandering pirate :smileytongue:

 

we're just going in circles...like I said the point is somewhat moot...and I care less than you.... because I no longer play D, 90% of the time I will be in the air.  The other 10% I will be attacking.

 

Truth be told since the change to GTF and learning how to fly, playing D has not mattered to me.

Interesting point, and I agree. Need to use some of these old tactics more often...I want to try using hacker a lot more too.

Like last night in community night I heard on the mics people surprised by sidewinder mines!  LOL.

 

Cause everyone used to sidewinder mine, then came the maw lock so everyone knew and used the counter often.

Then mostly everyone stopped doing sidewinder mines so people stopped being ready with the counter, and were again susceptable to it.  Around and around we go thankfully as I have always liked corduroys.

"competitive play and clan battles" make up 10% of this game now. I consider the mp albeit faulty where the game actually is so I'm speaking to that fact but I will agree with you that in CB's strategy changes and it would be different. I'd still stand behind my hawk>any flag defense though. Just need the right pilots.

The mined sidewinder gimmick happened to be in my wheelhouse last week.  I ended up in a room where it was a steady flow of tanks coming across the Basin map.  8 tanks in first game and 10 in the second.  They started coming out in pairs which made the third game more interesting.  

 

I've also ghostied a mined sidewinder into a group of flag campers as well.   That is cheap entertainment.  

Alright...I'm flying now but I'm still really scared of heights.......and now flak!

Yeah I dont think anyone is disputing that torpedos/clusters can defeat walls.

 

But in a balanced game where Freaky/Dream/etc is chasing you with flak do you think you would have tons of time to do that?

 

So I was right in my above comment where you are thinking about a "Normal" game (For you)where you and 3-4 other guys are perpetually base raping the other team to oblivion.  Not many B&B tactics can help at that point, LOL.

 

Myself I find lots of pretty casual servers that dont instantly turn in base rapes, but again I barely play heavyweight at all, it as well as air superiority are my least favorite loadouts.
