I have been without power due to the weather that hit the Midwest yesterday and today so I haven't had a chance to check out the update yet.
From what I have read today about the small patch it does seem like some good things were addressed. My only real complaint is still the lack of freedom to create servers on whichever map we choose with the loadouts WE want.
I know it is something that Sony would need to allow a budget for and would fall on Santa Monica to give us but this is what so many of us want. I'm tired of the "WE know best on how YOU should play the game". Really? It's taken LBI what, nearly a year to get the Cluster Bomb to cause damage to the player that drops them a foot in front of themselves...
Nice that someone finally, other than the players, noticed how cheap of an exploit that has always been some seven months after the retail release.
And still no correction on how bad Outpost spam has all but ruined this game in every mode with ground troops. The small maps fix is a good start but will SMS address the bigger problem for all the other maps? I sure hope so. Outpost spam does cause the game to be "hectic" but also takes away the need for skills and teamwork to really fight your way into an enemy base. Does anyone think that is just too much work to ask a team to do?
We now have the Pod Launcher which gives you the ability to shoot yourself into an enemy base, so do we even need Outposts that can be deployed inside or near the enemy's "Red Zone"? I think not.
LBI's obsession with fast paced game play has been why this game feels so shallow at times. To keep it so non-stop meant taking out most of what worked in Warhawk and replacing it with easy to destroy everything and constant cheap ways (IMO) to get the most kills in each round.
Even with the silly change to CTF I still join games where no one on either team has even tried for the flag, other than myself, because most players are just running up their KDR numbers every round.
I'm thankful LBI was able to still tweak a few things, but I do wish even larger, more sweeping changes could still happen for the betterment of the game as a whole and it's longevity.
