Just wondering, but did anyone hear me using my mic yesterday? After watching the Urgent Fury video I don't think I was.

Re: Starhawk Wednesday Weekly Community Event!

Since I've made it in the last couple of weeks (more like crashed the party), you might as well officially throw my name on the list...

Of course, I only crashed the party because the server wasn't full, and I was quite prepared to be kicked if the server did fill up.

I'm thinking of putting up my Arena Only server on a semi-regular basis, if there is interest (see my thread down the list a bit). Of course, I haven't really had a chance to 'stress test' my connection... haven't been able to draw a crowd of more than about 6-8 players any time I've put a server up, even without a password. Guess not everyone appreciates the Arena loadout like I do.

Re: Starhawk Wednesday Weekly Community Event!

It really depends on what time you're putting the server up and the maps. You could just be on at a bad time for DM; if that's the case, probably isn't much you can do. And make sure you aren't doing a huge-kill server either; 50 is perfect, IMO, and 75 isn't bad either. I would start off with 25 for a few rounds and then do 50 so you have a chance to get enough people in.

Narrows, Junction, Basin, and Outlands are probably the most popular. At the very least I love Narrows and Junction, and they tend to have the best action (other maps tend to spread everyone out more; Junction and Narrows have areas where everyone just loves to spawn, so action is always going strong)

Also, you may just want to do something else with the DM; add another mode in every so often. A DM/Assault/Zones server will get hits just because there aren't many and when a good one goes up, it fills quick.

Re: Starhawk Wednesday Weekly Community Event!

Breaker is a nice map. The pick ups are easy to see for anyone who is not familiar with the map (unlike those that are "hidden" in the asteroids on Flotilla).

I love the new arena loadout. It's perfect for having lots of fun using the stealth skill ... though Leenail might disagree :smileytongue:

Good games and see you all next year :smileyhappy:.

Re: Starhawk Wednesday Weekly Community Event!

[ Edited ]

Sadly, Arena Only limits the choices to Junction, Glade and Relay (allow Arena Loadout on medium maps, pretty please, SSM?) and CTF, Zones, DM and TDM (add Arena Loadout to Assault, pretty please, SSM?).

Knowing that I can almost never finish a 45 minute match, I also limit the time to 20 minutes (10 minutes on the DM - which I throw up as a bonus...  I suck at it, but it's still a lot of fun) and 2500 (Zones), 8 (CTF) or 50 (TDM).

I suppose I could also throw in bonus GK and Assault matches after the first and second go-rounds (though with this many rounds I may drop the limits to the minimums):

Junction - CTF

Relay - Zones

Glade - TDM

Bonus: Breaker - GK

Junction - TDM

Relay - CTF

Glade - Zones

Bonus: Narrows - Assault

Junction - Zones

Relay - TDM

Glade - CTF

Bonus: Relay - Arena DM
