Batenswytch:  not a Mongoose with a capital M but I think I did more than my share of wrecking the BMX bike my parents got me when I was 8.  The 'dirt hills' near where I lived were gnarly.  Now they are a subdivision.  :/

Same here. I have the scars to prove it.

Gotta nasty scar about the size of a nickel - doesn't sound like much, but those metal spikes on the old bike pedals could really dig in deep.  Pretty sure it went to the bone on my shin - and I wasn't about to tell mom what I'd done.

Ah, the good old days - when you just sucked up a sorta major injury, you SURE didn't tell mom, put some peroxide on it, and if you were really hurt, a folded up paper towel and some masking tape made a great bandage....

I had a schwinn hand me down. Anyone have an orange flag? That was back before bike helmets and seatbelts in cars. We were protected from imminent death in a motor vehicle accident by our parents quickly putting their arm out in front of us. It is amazing we made it.

Helmets were for kids who rode the short bus.  :smileyvery-happy:

The 2nd part of your statement is so funny, because it's true. :smileytongue:

If you didn't have mag wheels, you were told to G T F Outta here. :smileywink:

I especially like how this one has NO handlebar grips.  And man, those handlebars could CUT a kid.  I think I have a semi-circular scar on mah leg somewhere from just that sort of thing.

TRUE vintatge right thar.
