Also the game is very deep IMO in that every strategy has a counter strategy etc especially when you start playing clan battles and organising skills, how to get buildings and vehicles up quickly etc.
Another thing since you mention you love 'shooters', this game is fairly vehicle dominant and the shooting mechanics are fairly simple.

Don't let the first paragraph scare you off at all, this only applies to a handful of players out there. And only if you're unfortunate enough to run into them. Just like any other game, there are going to be some players who are just downright good, and seemed to have figured the game out.
For the most part, there are still a lot of newer players and you should be fine fitting in.........Or, you can learn by being thrown into the fire and learning from seeing what other players do. But yes, the good players will be noticeable.
