I had and beat Silent Hill 2 back in the good ol' Playstation 2 days but I actually never got the chance to pick up Silent Hill 3. I know these two come in the HD remake but I was wondering, do the games look any prettier in HD? The one thing that some scary games used to blow it for me was how bad some of the texture was that it just wasn't scary for me.. Anyways, I just want to know.. Is it really in HD and will it make the hair on the back of my neck stand up? ![]()

I hated 3, worse than 4 to me. But there were a few things that I liked, but things I also didn't like. They really screwed up the fog, the lake looked like those audio pads that they put in recording studios and are very distracting. There is also a glitch where at one point Maria's eye texture is replaced by teeth. If you have the greatest hits of SH2 and a quality PS2, I would keep the original as the graphics are both better and worse.

The Silent Hill HD Collection does not include “remade” versions of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3. It includes “re-mastered” versions of them in HD. Actually it includes re-mastered versions of their incomplete code. People have really torn this collection apart since its release date and highlighted the many issues that both of the video games in it have (issues that were nowhere to be seen in the original versions of these video games).

If you can get your hands on the original versions of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 then that might be a better approach but if the Silent Hill HD Collection is the only way that you can play through these video games then I hope you are able to enjoy what this collection has to offer.

The reviews have been fairly scathing, and considering how great a game SH2 is, I'd say that it's safe to stay away from the HD remasters.
I still have the PS2 games of 2 and 3. Kinda ****ed that my copy of SH for PS1 came up missing, but what am I going to do, I bought it in a previous millenium.

Aside from the glitches/slowdown (which was fixed with a patch) I didn't actually have any issues with these games. I haven't heard of any of the other glitches mentioned here, and the only thing I can think of that might affect your choice is the SH3 voiceovers being redone. Since you haven't played 3, that may not matter to you; also, I thought they were much better than the re-done SH2 voiceovers (especially Maria). So unlike the others here, I would actually recommend the HD collection. Keep in mind that most critics' reviews were probably done before any patches (which took a few months to come). If you can find the PS2 versions though, those are certainly not a bad choice.

they were really bad. im surprised konami didnt get sued. stay with the ps2 versions. the ps3 HD collection has been patched, but id say its still only 90% complete and its still missing alot of sound cues, pacing in the cinematics and many other small glitches. im a die hard SH fan and i would only recommend it to people who havent played the ps2 games.
the trophies really ruin alot of the tension and pull you out of the scenes and they actually delay certain scenes from playing properly. the famous rape scene with pyramid is still whacked. theres a huge delay still after the patch you dont see the full scenes.
avoid it
