Dear finns and bp
Well done for finding a work around, sounds like you guys with your VPN should be CEO of Naughty Dog, Sony, or both as you found a way when they can't.
However, I have no idea how to do all that stuff and quite frankly I shouldn't have to. If you can do it using whatever means, it shows that IT CAN BE DONE. Therefore why are those that should be sorting it out not doing the same?
Furthermore, we haven't had a reply from Sony at all and the last time we heard from Zod at ND it was "like hey just chill out man, watch this youtube video from an unknown source who says it's your ISP that's at fault not us" and then NOTHING for a couple of days now. NO update, NO news, NO appology, NO refund so I can't (won't) even go buy the **bleep** disc like I should have done in the first place. Seriously, to think I felt bad about bagging him. Whatever happened to "I thought you'd rather have some news than nothing at all" yeah you're right, so how long did that last?
So, SONY and ND - what's the score? Have you washed your hands of us? Is this just a dead thread for guys in Thailand and Singapore to have a whinge? Well, enjoy my money have a cocktail or two on me eh. Hope the umbrella gets stuck in your throat.
I cant agree more. I feel cheated. I mean the issue is so friggen easy to describe and also replicate.... many thousands of people in Asia have this issue. But PSN and Sony are still fken asleep as per normal and they will look at it when they are ready and after they have finishing caching in on everybodys credit card payments. I find it appalling. There are really only 2 major issues so far. One is the auto save issue. This has been fixed. And secondly the rest of us who cant even install the fken game and it gets stuck at 0% and 3 hours and 14 minutes.
Sony what time zone do you work in?? Do we have to wait another week for you guys to even figure out whats going on? Its kinda obvious now right?
yeah, please try to fix this problem ASAP, paying for a game and not able to get it is just horrible.
And calling PSN asia for a refund, the answer i got was "I could send in a request, but whether you can get it is not confirmed"
And there is nothing we can do, they took our money and they can just leave it like that.
Seriously, this is not the way to do business, at least they should have some explanation on what is going on and if it is going to be fixed.
Paying for a game and not getting it, getting ignored. Best deal ever
should I just start a new thread to remind them..even though I don't feel like doing so, since this one is already STICKY
I've left my ps3 on since I started fuzzing out earlier this morning, so I spent half a day downloading less than 1GB. It won't even hit 1%
I spent today calling and asking everyone that was "supposedly" capable of solving this issues, but meh.
I'm not getting racial here, but seriously how come a lot of people in SEAsia don't have proper access to the game as they should. We had no problem punching in our credit card numbers and you had no problem deducting our online wallets, connection was fine all the way through; but then the game? What's the point of "Day1 Digital" if everyone couldn't download it, on Day1
I'd be curious to see more blames on the internet now: because if you developers think that you're going to be releasing this as digital media as well as the physical disc, then you must be already aware of the fact that there is a decent portion of anticipated online customers from all over the world who would rather buy the game that way. And if your distribution is not globally consistent, you can't really throw all the responsibility at us. EDIT: or at least, you could have mentioned it in your hyping up advertisement "The Last Of Us! Awesome! The Best Ever! oh by the way if you're buying from Asia you might have a problem ", otherwise, it feels like we weren't told of the problem we may have, which could affect our decision to purchase. I have called, and talked, and tried everything with my internet provider, but downloading your game is still problematic. Everything else is fineee.
Funny how my friend, also in Thailand, pre-ordered this game and he finished downloading it with not a single problem, no connection bogging or anything. That was two days ago. And he's enjoying it right now as I type.
And please, I'm not asking for self-righteous justice, or a refund, or just to lash out my anger. I just want an answer, not perpetual silence. At least show up, and tell us if there's something wrong at the moment. I am willing to wait patiently only if I know that the developers are also aware of this problem.
Also, I'm not asking for only Zod to come up with an answer, as I have noticed that he'd been the one answering most of the questions on this thread, just anyone, sony, playstation, ND, whoever, just come up with something to assure us that our money wasn't taken for nothing.
Nice comments guys, a little bit of solidarity goes a long way
Just thinking, The Last Of Us is getting great reviews, "best game on the system" etc and it's using everything the PS3 has got to run it, to the point where older systems are overheating, it's "almost" next gen. It's probably the last game many of us plan to buy (depending on the next COD release) before we go out to buy our shiny new PS4.
It's also the first game I know of that you can start playing half way through the download (I know don't laugh), just like the PS4 will be able to, using awesome new internet technology for direct download..... you thinking what I'm thinking? PS4 unable to be used in Asia due to "an issue with your ISP." Has anybody considered that Bill Gates is behind this whole fiasco and we are just pawns in his evil plan?
a little update:
my friend was being thoughtful he decided to delete his game and re-install it over again and guess what
His installer is now downloading just fine. 10 hours and counting down, took 4 minutes to get 1% downloaded.
He's on the same internet provider as I am
His internet package is also the same as mine
He lives 15km away from my house
His router/modem is on default setting like mine
He was doing it wireless and I was wired, I've tried both though.
His bought his PS3 back in the US but I got mine here.
So I'm lost now. I don't know what the problem is anymore. Clearly it's not totally our internet. This is just ridiculous lol
If there's any technical specialist I'd really like to know the possible cause that might be of my router setting that hinders the download progress.
Folks in singapore - no I never had requested for safe surf on star hub. It comes by default. I tried to disable it online uing my hub id. But that didnt work. Which is why I mentioned that you have to call them up and request specifically to do it from their end.
Also, after you call them up, wait for one hour. DO NOT SWITCH OFF YOUR ROUTER DURING THIS TIME as they will be disabling it from their end during this time.
I am pretty sure this is the problem atleast in Singapore and IT WORKED FOR ME.
For those of you in Thailand and rest of Asia - do check with your ISPs.
The bad news is that this is an ISP related problem and I dont think Sony or ND will try to help us out. We are on our own (Wish I was wrong)
All the best!
btw, I did try DMZ, port forwarding etc before talking to my ISP. None of them worked. CALL AND TALK TO YOUR ISPs. Thats the only feasible option at this stage and worked for me.
Yes, Sony and ND should have checked from their end before distributing this game in Asia. Digital downloads are made regionally available and DLCs are region locked for most games. They should have checked the restrictions in our region before making it available. While its a problem with our ISPs - Sony and ND are also at fault here IMO.
Still nothing on my end. Been talking to my ISP, posting on their Facebook etc... but no results so far. Still can't download the game.
Have already emailed PSN Asia as well, they asked me for a picture of my problems... I sent them the infamous screenshot, but seriously, I have no idea how that will help them.
