I am also experiencing this bug. It's more than a little ridiculous that a patch should be able to break the installer so fundamentally. How exactly did this pass QA? Did *no one* try to install the game?
Yep, this issue is complete **bleep**.. I have downloaded this friggin DLC three times and tried to install it and I can't get it too work. The fact that neither Sony or Naughyt Dog has commented on this is beginning to **bleep** me off.
Okay...I think I found the solution to my problem, so maybe it's the same for you.
I read that the PS3 sometimes has trouble reading the Dual Layer Blu-Ray disc, which Last of Us is. Take the disc out first. The solution is to either set your PS3 vertical, or if it's horizontal to tip the system back until the disc slot is facing the ceiling. Then insert the disc and then boot up the game.
It may sound crazy, but worked for me.
This is the digital download from the PSN store. There's no disk at all. It just simply won't download.
I'd really like to hear something from Sony or Naughty Dog at this point. Even just "We are aware of the problem and are working on a 1.07 patch".
Huzzah! I've found the magical incantation to get the download to work. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Here are the exact steps I took:
1. Download the installer from the PSN store and install it.
2. Run the installer.
3. Accept the 1.06 patch.
4. Pull the ethernet cable out of the Playstation 3 (or disable your wireless router, etc.). The point here is that the system must not be able to automatically sign you in to PSN while the installer is starting.
5. Once the installer starts and prompts with "Press X to sign in and begin downloading", plug the ethernet cable back in and then press X.
6. Log into PSN
Lo and behold, the download works!
what installer are you talking about? Do you mean start to download the DLC and then interrupt the downloard and then restart it again? I have already patched the game to 1.06 but I still cant get the DLC package to download - it keeps failing out
