Are Infected still aware of what they are doing?

In the game, Sam says his brother Henry believed that once you get Infected, you go to heaven. He thinks you die when you turn into a Runner.

To be honest, I don't think this is what happens. I think that once you turn, you are still in there somehow. You're not dead, but something else is controling your body.

How do you feel about this?

In the only stages, like Runner and maybe even Stalker, you're aware of who you are and what is happening to you, but you can't control yourself.

Clickers and Bloaters are not the same way, however the host doesn't die at any point, the person is still alive, but being totally controlled by the infection, even the brain. So they're not dead, but they have become "animals" without any sense of humanity left. I think.

And by the time you're done reading this, you'll realize that this is just my sig
