E3 explanation?

38 replies 549 views Edited Jun 23, 2013
I really wish that ND would acknowledge that the AI in the final game is almost completely different than what we saw in 2012... Love the game but I feel like an explanation is in order. Will any of you join me in searching for answer?
If they came straight out and informed us that what we saw at E3 wasnt possible due to technical limitations I think there wouldnt had been nearly as much backlash... Instead ND kept pushing this "revolutionary" AI that didnt actually exist.

The AI is still very very smart. Best in the industry in my opinion. But they took so many good features from the E3 2012 demo. I can't help it, but feel ripped off about it. I noticed a significant upgrade in the lighting. So my conclusion is that they exchanged the AI with the lighting.

My God, shut up about this. How many threads per day do we need? This is the BEST AI you have seen in a game. Ever. They're smart and ruthless, they try not to die.

Regardless, they explain why they had to dumb it down in the documentary "Grounded" by Area 5. It wasn't fun being murdered every single time. If you play slowly and not go guns blazing, they act very similar to the E3 demo. They run, hide, flank and surprise you.

Uh... The barely act like anything that was seen in the E3 demo. You can blindly defend this deception if you want but dont get upset when others point out obvious facts. I played the game slowly as the developers intented and the AI was not nearly as good as you claim it to be. Asking for an explanation as to why there is such a big difference is fair game. It had its moments but the majority of the time I saw dudes with boards running directly at me with my shotgun aimed directly at them. No sense od self preservation whatsoever.

If they really dumbed it down because it was "to hard" ND made a huge mistake.

I agree, the AI looked alot more interesting in the demo. Do you think maybe DLC could have smarter AI or something? lol

I am actually thinking of a patch. Isn't it possible to smarten the AI a little bit with a patch?

I enjoyed the game so much that I forgot about the AI, but as you say, I felt the 7 minutes of the E3 2012 Demo way more intense than any other combat in the entire game. Simply watch from 6:36 and on...
