Anyone noticed this?
While she does smile in the cutscenes sometimes [a lot in Left Behind], which is the high res model I guess [photo bootht oo for instance, high res]?, the lower res model used in the game [when you move around, jump, fight, etc] doesn't really smile at all.
I noticed this in Left Behind a lot, when they were making fun of things or reading the joke book. The actresses were smiling a lot but the in game characters did not [only in cutscenes].
I assume this is due to technical difficulties or something? I asssume it would be hard to animate the characters faces to make grimases and make the body move accordingly. Not enough resources for that it seems.
I mean it's sad cause Ellie's default expression is sad [well not surprisingly] but it doesn't really even change even if she is having fun [short of cutscenes].
I probably spend too much looking at her character... I like the hair physics and the way the A.I. acts clever and responds to situations accordingly... but she never smiles :/ It's a pitty, she got a pretty smiley face
She never looks like this
Always looks like this
Am I the only one who noticed this?
She smiled when joking around with Joel after leaving Bill's Town.
She smiled when telling jokes from her pun book.
She smiled when Joel invited her to go onto the Uni after running away the the ranch.
She never really smiled like she does in the cutscenes... It's a kind of smile but really just a weak smile... I know it'd be complicated to animate it well [smile is a difficult thing to make look good, especially on a lower res mmodel that shouldn't eat up resources, though they can do it just fine in the cutscenes].
Yeah it's a nitpick but I thought it's worth mentioning... I assume their next PS4 game will have fledged out animations on all models, looking generally great not just in the cutscenes :]
Also, FXAA/MLAA please :]
