Just played the Infected demo. Any questions?

85 replies 651 views Edited May 10, 2013
So I played the infected demo today at my local GAME store. Obviously, there's a lot of footage and impressions for this particular segment of the game out there already. However, if you guys still have any questions about the nitty gritty aspects of the game, regarding listen mode, gameplay mechanics, animations etc, I'll do my best to answer!

How were the textures of the game in this version? And also, how did you like the crafting system?

Im going for the trifecta. How did it match up to your expectations? How does it feel in comparison to uncharted? How good is Ellie, Tess and infected AI? Thanks

How open was the level you played? Did it feel as linear as Uncharted or did it give you a lot of room to explore?

Crafting system is awesome. It's very intuitive to use, and I quickly got the hang of it. Textures look good, but they still need a little more work- I played a pre-alpha build of the game, same as the one in PAX East

I second seal's question about the AI - did Ellie or Tess surprise you at all during gameplay? How dynamic did it feel?

Also, can you elaborate on the takedown mechanics? It was difficult for me to tell with the given gameplay if the bottle stun + pipe takedown was "all one" or if the player had control over it. If that makes any sense.

You are awesome by the way Nazzy

1) I really enjoyed it, it feels a lot different from modern action games. It feels like ND have taken the survival horror genre, removed the clunkier aspects and made it more streamlined

2) It's MUCH slower paced than Uncharted. You really need to plan every encounter beforehand, otherwise you'll get torn to shreds. Joel moves slower than Drake, and he's much less nimble

3) I was impressed by the Infected AI. Their movements are quite erratic, and they don't have a set 'patrol route' if you know what I mean. Couldn't really judge Ellie and Tess this early in the game, but they seem competent.

Yep, its fairly linear, but there are extra areas to explore to find more supplies- like scissors, med kits, bottles etc. Overall, it's still a focused, linear experience.
