Because I think that's boring. I want to feel like, when I'm playing, me and Ellie are in this together. If she just poof disappears whenever action arises, and poof reappears to stab a guy's back, that's not very advanced or groundbreaking at all - and that's all I've heard from Naughty Dog is that the AI will be extremely immersive and something to marvel at.

Ellie being able to take damage does not have to be equivalent to an escort mission. She'll be extremely capable by the looks of it. But whatever, maybe they'll make it based off difficulty. lol.

Ehhh... I'd rather have fun than immersion, you know what I'm saying? I don't want to have to get outta my way to save Ellie when I'm doing my own thang. She is supposed to be a capable girl, but if I'm sneaking through a level, I don't want her to try to do something to a Clicker, you know what I mean?

Yeah. Didn't Greg say something like that in the IGN interview at the intitial infected preview, that he was trying to sneak up on a clicker but Tess took the initiative and shot it - I didn't really know how to feel about that.

Regardless though, I just feel like I'd personally have much more fun if Ellie were vulnerable. I'm hoping this will at the very least be added into a hardcore mode or something.

This this this this this. I'm not saying she should be captured FREQUENTLY, but she can't just remain invisible to enemies. Joel and Ellie are in this together, not just Joel and then the ghost of Ellie that comments on pretty thing and sometimes tosses a brick.

Why is anyone questioning the A.I in this game? Hasn't it already been proven that this game has some of the most advanced A.I in gaming? I'm sure ellie A.I will be perfect

I've heard it all before. RE4's Ashley was advanced, super AI, never in the way, never dies.. Oh.. Wait.. It was the total opposite to what was promised.

They made the same promise with Sheva for RE5 okay.. She wasn't such a problem. but she continuously ignored aiming at enemies just to unload ammo.. at the back of your head.

I can promise you if you go believing AI will be perfect you'll end up very disappointed, I may be wrong and it may be good, it will be far from perfect though. No game has nailed it yet, and no game has even come close, The Last of Us isn't going to magically get it right when it's so far away from perfection.

When the best AI ever created is in an old game called Lemmings... You know theres a serious issue since the player has to control the majority of that.

But yeah, ND may make huges leaps forward getting better AI... But perfection is never going to happen.

Well I didn't mean perfect that literally. My word choice was wrong. By perfect I meant no trouble like it'll be just fine. Not perfect but fine

As long as it isn't as bad as RE4... It'll be fine.

That would be pretty hard to do though, that was the pinnacle of poor friendly AI.

I think that it would be more Immersion Breaking than Game Breaking.

When I hear Game Breaking, I think of that one guy who snapped his UC3 disc 5 times.

Very true. I'll re-title.

Well, I don't really think she should be capable in terms of trading haymakers with full grown men. It should be fight or flight, and I'm going to be disappointed if we end up with dozens of "hostage" situations through out the game because Ellie is too dumb to hide. Even worse is if enemies actually try to kill Ellie, I'm sorry but a 14 year old girl getting blasted in the face by a lead pipe, or getting shot by a revolver and surviving is much more immersive breaking than the same girl just hiding near Joel.

She should stay behind the scenes and help you when you need it, I don't actually expect her to use guns like a traditional AI partner would either. Considering how scarce ammo is, I assume she's going to use guns like how she used the brick in the E3 demo, and not bunker down next to you provide cover fire.

Realisticly, if enemies where to get to Ellie, it should be an instant game-over. That's my entire issue with it. Don't even get me started on the infected, trust me this game will be hard enough, a child hiding in a closet is not game breaking.
