Naughty Dog unveiled the world premiere of a brand new PlayStation 3-exclusive survival horror franchise called The Last of Us. Sony promises that The Last of Us will be a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Abandoned cities are being reclaimed by nature and the remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.
My bold prediction: E3 12' release date(Holiday 2012 or early 2013) and first gameplay. Since the game was taken from a ps3 it could be towards the conclusion of the final build. That teaser could be a opening cut scene or some kind off cut scene in the game. ND did the same thing with Uncharted 2 and kinda similar to Uncharted 3. I am not a survival horror fan Uncharted 1 was the closest I played to a zombie like game. Since this game is being devloped by ND I have to look into once it gets closer to release
I'm really eager to play this. I agree with Super_Vegeta! ND + Zombies = WINNING!
Actually I saw this in an interview: The Last of Us is "not a zombie game. If the game was about the monsters, we would have not showed them. The story's not about them, so let's get it out of the way."
Though it says its not actually a zombie game its sort of in the same genre of survival action. This game is actually going to define its own genre! I can't wait to try it Hopefully once its out I can try to organize some games if it does have a multiplayer. If not we can think of something to do as a community
A playable demo of The Last of Us will become available to owners of God of War: Ascension on May 31, the in-game countdown clock suggests.
The countdown clock, which is accessible via a "The Last of Us Early Access" button on God of War: Ascension's main menu, currently ticks down to 5pm GMT on May 31, two weeks before The Last of Us goes on sale on June 14.
Though Sony has yet to officially announce a date for the demo, the demo is expected to include access to a chapter of the single-player game, and be released to non-God of War: Ascension owners at a later date.
The demo will require a dedicated internet connection and access to the PlayStation Network which may point towards the demo featuring multiplayer. Once you actually boot up Ascension itself, there will be a countdown clock that points towards an April 16 release date.
Granted, nothing has been confirmed at this point, and the DRM could be Naughty Dog simply protecting their new IP. However, the legendary developer has yet to detail the multiplayer component that has only been mentioned as part of the game, so this could be a public reveal of its demo instead. Until we know for sure, all we can do it wait in anticipation.
God of War: Ascension goes on sale next Friday, March 15.
I just wanted to mention that Naughty Dog does have a section for The Last of Us (if any of you are interested): The Last of Us: General Discussion.
