Supplements? Steroids? Power Pills?

10 replies 308 views Edited Jun 15, 2013
So, am I not alone in thinking that popping pills to increase your skills is maybe not the BEST parallel that Naughty Dog could have gone with? I'm all for taking my Flintstones multi's to get my daily essential vitamins and minerals but to increase my weapons skills? Seems a bit like Plasmids a la Bioshock to me.

I get it. They need a collectible to allow for skill advancement. All I'm saying is maybe the drug angle wasn't the best way to go.

Trust me, in this world, you'd be popping Oxycontin like no one's business.

I honestly don't get how this bothers you. What else you would expect them to do? Let you punch a punching bag for 20 minutes so Joel hits harder? I think what they did was fine, its not like the game promotes popping pills or anything, Its just there to power up a character, For all we know it could be vitamins.

Doubtful, Tess and Joel are pharmaceutical drug smugglers. I'm guessing pills represent actual pain medication.

I suppose , but the point I was trying to get at its a Rated M game, expect something like that in the game.

Hell yeah, I agree completely. I think a lot of people expect a zombie shoot 'em up with great graphics and animations. They got a dark, depressing and mature story in return. It's a little much for some people.

I agree, He bought a game about brutally killing people and infected people with an awesome story and the one thing that bothers him is a couple of pills.. I just don't understand that logic. Smiley Frustrated

I love the story and the game and have no problem with the violence or depiction of drugs. I'm not expecting it to be completely logical I know it's a video game. I also realize it's a post-apocalyptic and things are pretty harsh. All I'm saying is with such a realistic and story-driven game as this is, I'm surprised that the developers chose power pills as the method for skill advancement...maybe magic mushrooms would have fit the theme better. ;-)
