The only negative I could say is that the friendly AI has like once or twice been a bit slow to follow me and it felt like the enemy AI had seen them but they didn't react. This is good because the game doesn't technically punish you for what is the games own mistake. So in reality: It's just a bit of a hit on the immersion but nothing major. Like seriously, if that bothers you, you're weird xD.

Even in the E3 demo when Ellie comes into cover, you kinda see the bad guy look right at her. So it's nothing new. They are helpful as hell though and the game doesn't feel like an escort mission at all. It's lovely.

Also let me tease you by saying:
The intro of this game.. you won't see it coming.

So it's like Bioshock Infinite? Ellie is invisible?....or the AI is just dumb sometimes?

No, you can see her.

So then the AI walks right past Ellie, they're just being dumb...

Im sorry, what is the point of this thread?

I can see you're running out of points to argue. Is this really that big of a deal? Aldro confirmed that the key things we saw at E3 were still in the game, and could be replicated if one knew the layout of the map and had experience with the controls.

The fact that our ally AI can appear to be invisible to enemy AI (for the sake of the game not feeling like an escort mission) might be a bit of an immersion breaker but is such a small aspect compared to everything else it seems to me that it would hardly take that much out of the core gameplay. IMO.

They have been arguing the same point for the last day... Guess they like escort missions

Yep, I ******* LOVE escort missions

Edit: profanity

Hmm, ok, here's the list of awesome escort mission games:

From the Reddit Q&A:
Programmer Max Dyckhoff on Ellie not being noticed:

"That was absolutely intentional, and it was a very hard decision to make. As Sessler and a few other reviews pointed out, the alternative would be extremely infuriating. We are trying to make a game where stealth is an important aspect, and we knew we wouldn't be able to guarantee the buddy AI would be able to stay hidden as well as the player. If the buddies were seen by enemies, it would be extremely frustrating.

The buddy AI was actually what I have spent the last four months or so writing, and I think we did a good job of making them seem believable. Ellie will stick in cover with you and hunker under your protective arm, and she is good at keeping up with you.

The best thing is that because the AI is emergent, the playthroughs will be different for everyone, and different on successive playthroughs."

He also programmed AI:

"Hi! I actually wrote a significant amount of the AI for the game, so I hope I can answer it sufficiently!

Yes, we managed to get a lot of reactivity in the AI. If they out number you they will be a lot more confident, if you out gun them they will be a lot more cautious, etc. They will hide from you, flank you, wait you out, flush you out, and coordinate to attack you.

There are a lot of systems running behind the scenes which make it all work, including some really neat environmental analysis, an upgraded pathfinding system, and ultimately some carefully hand crafted and tuned behavioural systems."

Taking a little break.

I had no ammo with my revolver and decided to shoot it to see if the last guy would react. Indeed he did. "I know that sound, gotcha now **bleep** hole" was what he responded with :smileyvery-happy:. He couldn't come at me though since he seemed to only be able to make molotovs and had no guns xD

Man fighting the human AI is fun as hell.

@Studio35
Ellie gets attacked once u are in combat. She also interacts by saving you, telling you where the enemies are and so on. That's more than Liz ever did in Infinite. All Liz does is just be there for you to call by pressing a button. Ellie feels much more alive.

@Player1x3
Anyone knows I'm a rather addict when it comes to pretty graphics <3.

I had my doubts going into TLOU, I feel that UC3 and GoWA would have an advantage due to them being far more linear. TLOU as a whole, design wise, really hides the linear nature of the game.

Having said all of this:
The Last Of Us is the most beautiful game I have ever played (on consoles). It trumps the likes of Uncharted and God of War. You really lose yourself in this world and too often do I find myself just looking at the amazing vistas (there are a TON of them throughout). The lighting in particular is jaw dropping and the whole thing just feels alive in a very special way.

Excellent

Less than a week to go.

Hey, I believe you about having the game but like someone else suggested, could you post a picture or something of your copy so we can dispute the inevitable "Maybe he doesn't have the game"  comments?
