@Player1x3
I'd say much better. I got to the demo part and it wasn't entirely different in my honest opinion. But the demo part was like by far the worst showcase in terms of how pretty the game truly is.

The only negative I could say is that the friendly AI has like once or twice been a bit slow to follow me and it felt like the enemy AI had seen them but they didn't react. This is good because the game doesn't technically punish you for what is the games own mistake. So in reality: It's just a bit of a hit on the immersion but nothing major. Like seriously, if that bothers you, you're weird xD.

Even in the E3 demo when Ellie comes into cover, you kinda see the bad guy look right at her. So it's nothing new. They are helpful as hell though and the game doesn't feel like an escort mission at all. It's lovely.

Also let me tease you by saying:
The intro of this game.. you won't see it coming.

So it's like Bioshock Infinite? Ellie is invisible?....or the AI is just dumb sometimes?

No, you can see her.

So then the AI walks right past Ellie, they're just being dumb...

Im sorry, what is the point of this thread?

I can see you're running out of points to argue. Is this really that big of a deal? Aldro confirmed that the key things we saw at E3 were still in the game, and could be replicated if one knew the layout of the map and had experience with the controls.

The fact that our ally AI can appear to be invisible to enemy AI (for the sake of the game not feeling like an escort mission) might be a bit of an immersion breaker but is such a small aspect compared to everything else it seems to me that it would hardly take that much out of the core gameplay. IMO.

Nice job.

In this last sentence, you've managed to not only prove why I'm upset...But you also explained why I have the right to be upset:

Actually, I was pointing to how silly it is that in the face of the immense positives in this game's AI you choose to nitpick on one intentional detail.

But yeah, you have the right to to be silly, so go for it dude. Have fun.

I didn't agree with the decision to make Ellie invisible...How does that make me silly?

Making Ellie invisible was a cop-out.

ND played it safe

hey alrdro, it allready has been asked  but does the game really does live up to the E3 videos in terms of AI?

from your responses it seems like it, but two particular behaviors i saw, remember the second playthrough of the E3 demo  where they went a different route?

 at one point Joel enters a room and takes cover while shooting at two enemies from outside the room. suddenly, from off-camera you see an enemy grabing Joel's gun from his hands(!)  and slamming Joel in the desk

also near the end of the same demo, you see an enemy running away to hide from you, since he's unarmed and you have a pistol.

after you lose sight of him  he crafts a molotov  and tries to do a surprise attack with it

have you encountered similar behaviors in the full game? i watched the Reddit q&a where Naughty Dog confirmed their E3 Ai  was legit, and actually had improvements since then

and thank you for taking the time to make this thread, its very reassuring in general for me  since the game's Ai was very important to me Smiley Happy

@Aldro
This is the Gamefaqs thread where I posted your info
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/652686-the-last-of-us/66381428?page=0

It's pretty funny how fast it derailed. Like the first few comments are so happy for the info and then there are four pages of trying to prove why your info isn't credible. Check it out, if you're interested

also, form the first E3 demo when you take cover inside a room, you go from one room to the next and there's an old guy with a steel pipe hiding in the corner  who suddenly starts beating you up  once you show up from the door frame

will enemies set ambushes/traps for you like that in game?

I don't get why gamers spend time trying to prove something is false....people secretyly want to hate some games. Fanboy wars - it never ends

@Olokazu
The slamming Joel on the desk in PARTICULAR hasn't happend but Ellie constantly shouts: BEHIND YOU, or TO YOUR LEFT and I am able to help myself with that. Sometimes she doesn't see them though and then yeah, they will surprise me by striking me, or grabbing me. Really clever and sneaky AI.

Now I have reached the E3 area folkes. Here's the biggest issue in order to replica what we saw:
The enemies are all kind of differently placed with different weapons. NO ONE has NO weapons. Hence drawing your gun might sometimes make them run and hide at the closest corner, but ultimately rush you eventually (if not directly depending on how close you are).

But in short:
I don't think you can make someone flee since they all have guns and the guy at the E3 video didn't. He ran away and made a molotov, remember? So yeah, the scenario has changed. Everyone is armed and the way they are placed are different in some ways. I tried changing difficulty but still couldn't get a guy without anything.

Having said this: Guys, the AI is incredible. What you saw at E3 was obviously a showcase of like one amazing scenario after another and like 90% of it has happend to me.

Yeah, I actually did it just like the first E3 demo despite it being different in terms of enemies you encounter. But I was able to get one of them to stand behind that exact same place and hit me as I went passed it with Ellie shouting: WATCH OUT!

Haha Smiley Very Happy
