Maybe the friendly AI should be smart enough to not hide in front of the enemy.

If ND did that in the first place, most of the issues with the AI wouldn't be worth talking about. Immersion wouldn't be broken by Ellie and the occasional partners.

Until Enemy AI bum rushes you while your holding a shot gun right at them.

I agree with you, like I said before people started ranting at me saying I have no right to say anything cuz I can't program, an idea to be studied would be making ellie always try to hide under your arms, like she already does.

And what my brother and I were telling you is that if you were to do that, they would have to re-script a lot fo the enemy and ally AI, becuase it's not just Ellie, it's Tess, Bill, Tommy, and then the enemy AI would have to be made to react to the AI as well. It's a far too long and tedious process that will be chalk full of glitches that will rile people up more than what they are. That's what we were trying to explain.

I do understand that. I'm not saying that I'm trying to force what i think it's right for this game, I'm just putting an idea on the table, maybe venting. It' just an idea, like I said and tried to explain for a while I'm not a programmer and I don't know how to program, neither know how to make a better AI which is why i only gave my opinion and idea of what I think could work somehow tho in game companies they do rescript everything a few times if needed, specially on indie studios (which is why indie games take really long sometimes to be released). But in the end this escalated quickly.

Yes, it did. lol kudos for Anchorman. What I was trying to say was it would be almost impossible at this point, because it would be such a huge update, and a huge workload, that it would take a very, very long time to release. Good discussion though, bub, had some good laughs. Ugh, it's been a good day......lol

Easier said than done.....you try creating all new technology that is like that. It is extremely difficult to make a computer like that

That arguement is so weak. The whole "you try to make it" arguement just makes you look foolish because chances are you don't have the technical know how to adequetly explain why exactly ND couldn't create AI that stayed out of the enemy's sight.

youre right i dont.... but guess what? neither do you which is why you think it can be the way you are saying

Well, ND has already programmed them to hide from the AI and, stay close to Joel. It's certainly possible for them to acheive what I'm suggesting.

I honestly don't think that the AI for Tess, Bill, and Tommy is different. It's probably the same AI for adult friendlies, and the same AI for child friendlies. Why do I think this? Well while Sam was still alive, I found him following Joel and Ellie more often than not. There were only certain spots where he would follow Henry's lead, like how there were certain spots Ellie would follow the Adult AI. All the adult AI usually does is lead the way for Joel, and then hide(badly sometimes) until Joel screws up and reveals himself to the enemy.

It doesn't deserve to get locked. It presents a valid critisism of the game. The mods should just delete the posts from the two gif posters here, since they don't add anything to the conversation, except hate and ignorance. They're just mad that their beloved game has flaws and people who have noticed those flaws.

I know there are flaws, but how many times have we told YOU, EYECUE, if you really are all that smart, that the devs decided to make the game the way it is for reasons their own. Yes the AI breaks immersion, yes they walk right out into the open and enemies, but #dealwithit. It's their design choice to make the game not a big escort mission. Why don't you go tweet Neil and complain directly to him and see if he cares.

I know the game has flaws, and I know people are going to post them. I've come to terms with that in my own way, without feeling the need to post in every thread, stating those errors, and then stating that ND is out for nothing but money. *COUGH* EyeCue *Cough*

Yeah, well there design choice sucks. It's also incredibly lazy. All I am asking for here, is that they should have made the friendly AI hide better than they do in the game. The game already is an escort mission. You have to take Ellie from Boston to Utah where the Fireflies are. It's part of the story. Take Ellie from point A to point B. Ellie can die, along the way, then you start over. Granted, it's not a badly made escort mission that becomes annoying. I stand by my belief that ND should have made the friendly AI hide.

I don't have a twitter, so I can ask Neil. It's not like he would answer me anyway since I doubt he would want to advertise a flaw in his game.

While I understand what you're asking, as well as everyone else, complaining in every single thread won't help. Most people find it trolling and very annoying. I'm certain ND is well aware of the amount of glitches, complaints, and bugs in the game, but not everyone has them(I don't, haven't had one) and will fix it, but they need a break too. They're people who have lives and families outside of the studio and need to take a breather. When they come back, I'm sure they will attempt to fix them, and I use that term loosely because some of the issue might not be able to get fixed.

They could have had more sophisticated AI but it would have had to be run on a PC. I mean if we're going to be nitpicky about everything, why do all of the obstacles fall in such a way that force you to a pretty linear path? Why do we go through toppled skyscrapers where infected hang out instead of just going around like we have some sense?

Well, it's not like I'm nitpicking like that guy who wanted better water because it flowed through a rock. They should have just delayed the game again to polish it since it's clear that they still had a lot of little things to work on, judging by the amount of complaints in Zod5000's "bugs n' glitches" thread. I'd rather a length delay, over recieving a glitchy game anyway. I'm just glad I didn't pay for this thing.

That's not an excuse. Would you allow a restaurant to serve you 3/4ths of your meal and get the rest at a later undisclosed date, just because the people who work at the restaurant have lives and a family?

Because ND is telling a story and it's a game. Nice straw man arguement. How the hell do you know it would take the power of a PC to run a version of TLOU where the friendly AI doesn't hide in plain sight, and instead hides with Joel? Are you a ND programmer? No? Do you work for ND? No? Then stop making excuses for them. Being passive about these things gaurantees the consumer winds up getting screwed.
