Friendly AI can't stay in cover, because you can often sneak past a lot of enemies and make it to the next checkpoint without killing everyone. If they stayed in cover, they wouldn't be with you. There are some checkpoints you can't exit until you've killed everyone, but more often than not, friendly AI stay in one place away from your enemies in areas like this.

It is annoying; the one true complaint I have.

 

Since the AI only helps if are overwhelmed, I would have the AI hold further back, and 'rush' an enemy if you are overwhelmed. But all that could be off camera

can you imagine how incredibly frustrating it would be if the ai's could detect other ai's in this situation? until ai programming advances to the state in gaming, I guess human co-op would be the solution.

Oh yea because when I'm being stealthy I want the group of people I'm with the F*k me over by running into enemy AI. The enemy AI from my experience are smart, both humans and infected each in their own way. They react to you just fine, just not your companions.

 

Can you imagine how frustrated you would be with Ellie instead of feeling close to her most likely causing a number of your deaths and getting in the way of sneaky situations?

 

I can admit that it's weird seeing them not notice each other at all but the other alternatives will probably be worse. Which would be having them hide in the back of the area not helping you right away when getting attacked and having to wait for them to advance to the next area, or having the enemy ai notice them when seen which will make certain parts frustrating/harder for no discernable reason.

At the moment it would be bad if they reacted to friendly AI.

 

Have you seen the friendly AI fight? They don't do anything... The bullets are just there to look pretty.

 

Friendly AI in this game is far too poor to have this in it at the moment.

they helped me plenty. Although not taking on everyone by themselves, they did manage to take down a guy here and there. I laughed and was in shock when Ellie jumped on a guy before I could and went to town in his neck with her switchblade.

 

Sometimes when I was low on supplies, I would literally stand behind the others and let them soften up enemies and take a few out before I acted if it went down to that.
