"Holster" your weapon?

10 replies 7708 views Edited Jun 1, 2013

Apologies if this has been asked before, but is there a way to "put away" your current weapon?

If I've pulled out my gun, or have a piece of wood in my hands, is there a way to "unequip" it without drawing another weapon/item? I noticed throwing a punch will put my gun away, for example, but it bugs me that I can't put it away by choice.

Or am I missing a very simple button press to do this?

No there isn't a holster button, and there isn't a drop option neither...

Which I also find really annoying myself..

Wish they would include these things..

He puts the gun and anything else away  after 10 seconds if you just dont do anything, just walk or stand still..

Just what Stefdk said he'll put gun in holster and melee weapon on his back. I think he put a brick in his pocket too. wasn't sure though haha

They should make it so a single tap equips a weapon, and quickly double tapping puts it away.  That'd be cool.

^This, I was sad to see no way of holstering your equipped weapon. Smiley Sad I even tried double tapping R1 to see if it would put it up.

Alas there isn't, still it would be great if they make an addition to the game by adding these two features, it feels like there is something missing.

Aw, that's a shame. I was hoping it was just something I'd missed.

It's possible there's a way in the final game, of course, but if not (because it'd be too late to change now) I'd love to see this little issue addressed in a future patch.

Such a small thing, but really bugs me that you can't do it. I don't like it automatically putting my stuff away either! A single vs double tap on a button would be great, I agree.

If you make your character (I'm going to use Joel for this example) throw a punch, pressing the square button, the weapon automatically holsters.

Its not perfect, but I hope it helps.

EDIT: Just read the whole question, will now hang head in shame.

I know it won't affect gameplay, but I feel like this option would be highly unnecessary, well  unless its in multiplayer maybe.. I wonder if my gun is sticking out..
