All the problems with the game modes and trophies

So, I was sceptical about the new trophies when I first read them, and now that I've been playing the MP again the last couple of days I can say for sure that yes, they have caused big problems, and in fact they are much worse than I imagined. (And I'd like to point out I have never rage quit or boosted myself).

Here's a brief rundown of my experiences in each game mode.

Supply Raid:
- the game is far too long to be able to survive without death while playing normally / carefully.
- this leads to boosting / rage quits / map selection quits in EVERY GAME.
- when someone quits it makes it even more difficult for the remaining players.
- as there isn't a 'no parties' DLC option it means that a team of clueless sprinters and rage quitters go up against an organised party most of the time.
- due to all these problems the only way to try to get the trophies for normal people is to boost / rage quit / hide. I.e try to break the game and play CONTRARY TO THE FUNDAMENTAL MECHANICS OF THE GAME AND MULTIPLAYER IN GENERAL.

Survivors:
- would be a great way to try to get the trophies as winning the 4 games in a row needed is quite a quick match.
- however, this mode is even more plagued by quitters than supply raid, and the same point above re: solo idiots vs parties also applies.
- when people quit in this mode, new players that join don't come into the game for 1 or 2 rounds, leaving a 2v4 matchup from the 2nd round onwards.

Interrogation:
- only 1 or 2 people on a normal team understand the need to interrogate, the others just run around killing everything, oh except the enemy team, because of course they're a party.
- the game takes FOREVER, and anyone trying to get the trophies won't try to open the lockbox, as you're guaranteed to die many times in the process before it's open.
- so anyone going for the trophies WANTS TO LOSE. And in fact the best tactic in this mode is get the kills or downs needed THEN HIDE.

The only time I even came close was when it dropped me in a game of supply raid about halfway through, on the winning side of a team who all stuck together, against a bunch of idiots who kept splitting up, and I unluckily got a Molotov through a window and got killed once right at the end.

So basically, if you don't play in parties you haven't got a chance of the trophies; the trophies effectively encourage play that breaks the way the modes were designed to be played, and run completely at odds with the basic mechanics and principles of multiplayer games in general; and the only hope of getting them through 'normal' play is to hope you get dropped into a game right at the end, on the winning team, and get a few downs before it finishes.

Even if you don't care about trophies, your games are still being screwed by this behaviour, particularly survivors, so it's worth caring about.

So congratulations naughty dog, you had an amazing multiplayer game a year ago, and you've just completely sabotaged it through blind idiocy. Who came up with these trophies? Who signed off on them? Because they were clearly never tested or consulted on.

And the other thing: THEY'RE NOT EVEN FUN! You could have chosen trophies that acted as fun little challenges, reasons to pull people back into the multiplayer, to try out all the maps, to try loadouts and play styles that were different. But no, you chose to make 8 IDENTICAL TROPHIES POSSIBLE ONLY THROUGH SHEER LUCK OR BOOSTING.

Sheer luck? Boosting?

Nah. I got 100% today on Reclaimed Territories just by playing regularly.

But yes. These trophies only encourage negative behavior from people who suck.

Well congrats! I'm curious though, do you play in parties or through the 'luck of the draw'?

Many seem to complain about parties, but as a solo player (my friends stopped playing. ;( ) I really don't find that many parties on the dlc playlists. Sure, sometimes I do and get owned or we pull through and actually win (today they had a mole on our team who led them to us but we still won) but it's really not much of a problem. Playing against parties just makes me want to win! As for trophies, easily possible in survivors. Almost got it on coal mine by accident without camping, but got it the very next game on Capitol by accident, with 10 executions.

So I just got really, really close to getting one on suburbs. Played well, played carefully, had a good loadout, used armour, ran from trouble etc. then right at the end the other team got welfare and one spawned right behind me and instakilled me.

Where's the skill in that? Where's the challenge in being able to avoid that? These trophies are designed to make you want to hide in a corner which is RIDICULOUS.

Why haven't devs got the message that trophies based on luck are bulls**t?

F**k this game man! I'm going back to grounded mode...

Naughty Dog you suck at not ruining your own game.

Pretend the trophy doesn't exist and it will come naturally to you. The more you worry about it, the higher the chance of you messing up.

The point of these trophies was to make more players want to play all of the modes and maps. And I think that part of it is working. But unfortunately, the players who care about trophies enough to play all the different modes/maps, are the same players willing to RQ every match and start again.

ND's intended purpose is sabotaged by throphy-wh0r3 quitters.
The trophies will come eventually for me. I have never did anything intentionally to get any trophy on any game.

I have 6 out of 8 so far jus playing regularly.

I also got these on supply raid. I dont really see the problem. I will admit though... I would play a lil more defensively to avoid dying.

Players who already gotten trophies, do you play solo or in party?

 

Anyone played solo and gotten the trophies so far? Smiley Wink
Otherwise I can see how the trophies are encouraging players (especially solo) to ragequit.
