They are not going to remove listen mode from the game. It's a core element that the gameplay is based around. If there was no listen mode, they would have to make major changes to the gameplay. Part of the gameplay involves crouching and crouch-walking to stay hidden from view and knowing when to run and when to walk.
As others said, there's a counter for listen mode so it's not OP. That's covert training level 2-3.
I guarantee that as the game matures and people rank up that covert level 2 will be almost mandatory making listen mode useless except when being chased down.
I really don't see the problem with Listen mode.....
- everyone has access to it
- It only lasts like a second or two
- it has a LONG cooldown
- Cover Ops 2 can counter it as it can make you invisible to listen mode when you're crouch-walking.
- You can also counter listen mode if you don't move.
I personally have the covert 2 booster to avoid listen mode because I really do think it shouldn't be in multiplayer.
As well I literally almost never use listen mode as it does seem a tad unfair in the first place and isn't really needed... I honestly would prefer it gone from MP or at least reworked severely to where it either makes your radar more potent for a few seconds or you see little sound waves in general areas of where people are (not their silhouettes)
Played for the first time tonight, and was sad to see SA return in all it's disgusting glory. HOWEVER since everyone has it, it's not as bad as it could be.
I definitely think that it should only show people walking/running, and NOT those crouching. Totally defeats the purpose.
If you use it the way I'm using it, it becomes a bit OP.
don't use all your bar in one go, tap it sparringly, see your surroundings, let it go.
Becomes a flash of SA which is all you really need.
So what. I use Covert Training level 2 which makes it far less useful and potentially damaging to use.
