I don’t see this as an issue that needs to be solved with a game fix/patch…my friends and I generally talk it out and laugh about it afterward.
Silly attitude. Anyone would think games are played for run.
Is there some larger issue than parts that I'm missing here? I don't care if people take my downs, I might switch to a different target or be healing myself after the gunfight. As long as they don't crawl off for a band-aid I could care less.
I honestly don't get the issue with kill stealing. All of Factions' modes are team based. Since both the player who downed and the one who executed get parts, there's really no need to bicker about kill stealing. Nobody loses anything. On the contrary, both players gain parts. As I said, this is a team game, as such, it should matter that the enemy players dies, not who kills the said player.
As a sneaky player, I encounter situations when somebody downs an enemy, but can't finish him off. Perhaps he crawls behind some cover, his mates provide support fire, the guy who downed him doesn't have an agle to shoot, or runs out of bullets. Whatever the reason, I always execute such players with my bow. That way, nobody knows who killed the guy, so I can still ambush the rest of his team, both me and the guy who downed him get parts and what matters the most, the other guy is dead.
I can understand that kill stealing can be a problem in Interrogation mode. If you down someone and somebody else finishes the guy off, especially without an interrogation, that is something to get upset about. Or in cases when you plan to use the downed player as a bait to lure his teammates and somebody kills the guy. That can rustle a few feathers as well.
If I down someone, I get points, If YOU execute him, I miss out on those points which I could be buying ammo/armor/upgrades with.
I think you guys are misunderstanding how sharing works.
In order for this to work, BOTH players have to EQUALLY trade executions or else someone IS missing out on points.
If you think I'm wrong, please respectably explain what I'm missing.
And to clear it up, I don't really have this issue with my boys/gals and am not complaining. Just trying to explain.
It doesn't matter who actually kills the down, let the down and execution be credited for the downing player. That way there's still incentive to kill downed players, but not for the sake of boosting your KDR, but to eliminate the player on the ground.
Kill stealing is worse lately than I've seen it yet. Ruins the game when your team sucks, they eat all your team's deaths but kill your downs. The current system incentivizes a lack of teamwork. Using ammo on a guy who will bleed out and not revived is a dumb idea, unless you suck and must kill others downs to boost your stats.
