Re: What are the Best Skills?

Jun 17, 2014

i agree most skills are situational. there are few that will benefit you in a wide array of styles though. thats why i personally thought sharpshooter and first aid training were the best 2 to have. unless you chosse to never shoot, sharpshooter will always help you whereas first aid training can both help you to heal yourself faster, and keep your team healed, and give you plenty of parts. so you can be offensive more with the quick healing, sit back and play support, or use the accumulating parts to help buy upgrades, purchaseables, or armour sooner and frequently.

thats why i see those 2 as great anyway, if you have the room, they can benefit almost any playstyle.

I don't understand why Covert Training is getting all the hate? I play Lone Wolf 99% of the time. I use Covert Training 3 because I don't feel comfortable sneaking around when I know I can be marked. Yeah, they still see me and I won't know about it, but then again I can vanish just as easy when I sneak around corners and slip out of my enemy's field of vision. Something I wouldn't be able to do as easily with just Covert Training 2.

People saying it is situational, well it really is, but then again I'm a stealthy player so I'm crouching more than I'm walking or sprinting anyway. Also, the extra shiv at spawn is really useful. I tend to use it nearly every time. Sometimes I even need to craft more shivs because I tend to flank around a lot.

Lots of people "hate" or "disapprove" on Covert 2/3 because

  • In order for Covert 2 to be effective you have to be crotch walking AND the opponent has to be actively listening for you.  Somewhat situational, but a very common occurence.
  • Crouch Walking around the map is not efficient in many people's opinions.  Many noobs are crouch walking when they should be walking. Lots of players think they can't be seen crouch walking behind a barrier when they are actually in plain sight.
  • People feel that Covert 3 can be countered by using a mic because once you are spotted then the other team can use a mic to give away your position.  While this is somewhat true, your exact position is not given away unlike being marked, which can allow Covert 3 users to slip away or confuse the other team.  Verbal cues from teammates are not as effective as seeing a visual cue of exactly where the person is like with Hawkeye.  Plus if you are playing in no parties, most players don't have a mic and a lot of players do not speak the same language as you.
  • With Covert 3 you can't be verbally marked by the other team.  When you are markable, the other team gives a verbal indication that the other team has spotted you.  You can use that information to make a decision on what to do.  Run, run to teammates, look for your opponent, etc etc.
  • If you are creeping around with your teammates and one of them does not have Covert 2/3 on or they are walking instead of crouch walking then it pretty much renders you having Covert useless since the enemy is aware you are nearby and can be ready for you.
  • Awareness can help detect Covert users.

I personally think it's a great perk in some of my loadouts when I'm playing a certain way.  I die less and also tend to get more cheap kills (like ambushing you at the supply box...yes I'm THAT guy).  It's not as useful on maps like Lakeside or University where most of the gunplay are long distance battles and there are less tight corners and ambushing spots.

Apparently the world of scarcity does not apply to all the moronic posters on this forum.

Since I use Fortitude 3 a lot now, FAT 2/3 users are annoying. Feels like I'm being violated Smiley Very Happy They touch me and then get parts for it. I would rather use one of my 4 health kits and get my 50 parts.

Reviver (any level) is the better support skill imo.

Lol, you sound like one of those random teammates I get who just run away from me when I'm trying to heal them only to go use their own First aid kit.  I call them the Antisocialist xD

There should be a perk where your name doesn't come up. Personally, I think that having the names above heads ruined it abit. The amount of times I knew someone was there just cause theyre name popped up is stupid.
