Nobody answered my question.

So let me rephrase it: is there any technical hurdle in migrating online stats from a Sony console/1st party game to a Sony console/1st party game?

Is laziness a technical hurdle?

If not, nope, no reason not to transfer a few database entries.

^ Common sense.

Thank you.

Every line of code takes resources.

Without proper remuneration, people eliminate options. Simple economics.

That's over 250 million dollars... not to mention DLCs and the PS4 version.

Anyway, I'd prefer to keep my rank. Both PS3 vets and PS4 n00bs/former XBOX360 owners will start from Level 1. Even if we had rank-based matchmaking, it wouldn't work right. Just sayin'.

My bad, I didn't realize PS4 version was going to be free, and playable online without PS+ subscription.

I didn't realize a number that simply means how many games you played and nothing else, actually mattered to people. Compared to (GTA V) pretty high levels and money/resources/etc. that are needed to unlock the bulk of the content in-game...

They could also charge $5 (one-time fee) on top of that...

In the grand scheme of things, no, it doesn't matter. In fact, I would prefer no levels/ranks at all (less RQing, less complaints on the forums about no-lifing triple digit tryhards).

But since levels/ranks aren't going anywhere, I'd prefer if I could keep my existing rank. That's what Rockstar plans to do with GTAV on the PS4, so it's not exactly impossible from a technical perspective. Both GTAV and TLOU are very successful IPs.

well compare gaining a level in gta V to Last of us. a level in gta V becomes gradually harder to get and provides unlocks to a wide array of things along the way. A level in the last of us means you played 7 more matches.

I too would be concerned about levels carrying over to PS4, but since they literally mean less than nothing, it's pointless to complain about honestly.
