It's almost as if all of the settings are on maximum, lighted areas at 100% and shaded areas in the single digits. There's no balance, no softness in lighting or color. The lighting is terrible in every map, but it is the worst in the new maps.
I turned the Brightness down all the way in Options, it doesn't fix the problem. I even went as far as to adjust all of the settings on my TV so that the lighting could be more balanced, less harsh, even that doesn't work. There are so many problems with the lighting in this game it is baffling. Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us look great. Those two games have a softness to their colors, there is a subtleness in regards to daylight, in this game, it's like playing underneath a giant lightbulb.
By the way, could you take a screenshot of your "horrible" visuals and post it here? Thank you.
I find some maps and/or specific areas of maps problematic but for me, not nearly as widespread as it seems for you. I’m talking in terms of visibility and the ability to pick out enemies. I will say I recently played on Flooded Ruins in UC2 and far preferred it to Molten Ruins in UC3 but I think it had more to do with Molten Ruins having a more “oppressive” feel to it – what with all that lava!
