I figured Glowzor went "all the way" including DMZ.
I use a Netgear 300 router wired with all CAT6. UPnP enabled, QoS set to highest priority for my Ps3 only. When I test my speed on the Ps3 it says NAT 2. When I play CoD it says "Open" I called Sony to make sure I was doing the right thing to optimize my PSN experience. The tech assistance guy confirmed that I was doing all I needed to do. He said as long as you use a router it will likey say NAT 2. But it will actually be "open" for any game you can play online on the PS3. It works fine and I'm satisfied that I've done all I can to make my connection as good as possible. Too bad not everyone can do this or even cares to
Open NAT = NAT Type 2 = good
Strict NAT = NAT Type 3 = bad
There's also Moderate NAT, which is something inbetween the two. If I had to use a real life analogy, I'd say that NAT types are like blood types: some of them are more "compatible" than the others, if you get my drift.

You are fine. NAT Type 2 doesn't cause any lag. It means that you have forwarded all the necessary ports, so other players can connect to you easily.
If you have NAT Type 1, which means that you have a public IP address on your PS3, then there's no NAT (Network Address Translation) at all. NAT is a way/protocol to convert non-routable private IP addresses (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x) to routable public IP addresses and vice versa.

Yeap, it looks fine to me! Especially if you use Ethernet on your PS3.
Um. Its always been NAT type 2 on my end. Is that not good? Just because it is DMZ'd doesn't mean you will get something other than NAT type 2.
As I said, NAT Type 2 is fine. Don't worry.

I got a PM from a ND dev...
He says that "It's part of the internal network libraries. No PS3 game can do anything about this."
That probably means that it's a PS3 firmware restriction. Sony could update the firmware and add support for TURN or maybe the PS4 could have enhanced network libraries (TURN, IPv6 etc).
The funny thing is that XBOX360 and PC games have the exact same problem... all of them use STUN.
Maybe consoles are more limited due to less RAM or API restrictions, but PC games shouldn't have this problem (uTorrent/Skype/Flash run on Windows as well).
Hm.. I have a weird issue actually. and this is completely the wrong forum to mention where the issue lies.. But here...
While on the PS3 whch is wired I get NAT 2. Moderate connectivity.
While on the Wii U which is wireless I get NAT 3.. Strict Connectivity and basically have to wait a hour to find people on any game.
:\ It also disconnects like mad.
I'm not even that intelligent when it comes to this side of technology so I'm often just left scratching my head.
