STARTING UP
Navigating to Multiplayer
Okay... you've loaded up Uncharted 3 and you are at the main menu. You will see three types of game modes to choose from: 'Campaign', 'Multiplayer', and
'Co-op'. To navigate to the multiplayer portion of the game, use the right and left directionals to navigate to the 'Multiplayer' box. Then, once the multiplayer box is highlighted, press the X button. Then, you will be proceeded to choose from two options: 'Play Online' and 'LAN Party'. To proceed, choose 'Play Online'. A box across the screen that says "Connecting" should appear. Please wait patiently for about 15-30 seconds, and you will then proceed to the multiplayer menu.
You will see a variety of options to choose from. To learn how to navigate around the multiplayer menu and choose your destination, please read the "NAVIGATION BASICS" section of this guide.
Cash & XP
You will notice on the bottom left hand of the screen that you have $10,000 Uncharted cash, and 0 XP. Cash can be earned by getting kills, earning medals, picking up treasures, and completing a match. You can purchase multiple items to customize your loadout or character with Uncharted cash.
XP are points you can earn from playing matches. The more XP you earn, the faster you will rank up.
Ranking Up
When you earn the goal amount of XP to rank up, you will then move on to the next level. For example, if you were level 26, and you earned enough XP to complete a rank, you will then be rewarded a promotion to level 27. If you want to know what level you are or how much XP you need to rank up, look on the bottom left hand side of the screen, where you should see your level, cash, and XP required to rank up.
CUSTOMIZING YOUR LOADOUT
Customizing your loadout in Uncharted 3 multiplayer is a very important piece of the game. Customizing a loadout will enable you to choose weapons to use, boosters, kickbacks, and mods to place on your weapons. The loadout you customize will be used while you play in competitive game modes.
Long Guns
Long guns are your primary weapon you begin with while playing. They are designed for longer ranges than pistols and usually carry out more damage. Uncharted 3 features six unlockable long guns to choose from: AK-47, G-MAL, Dragon Sniper, M9, KAL-7, and FAL-SS. All of these guns are different and can be unlocked by ranking up. It is a good idea to choose what gun suits you the best. Below is a description of each long gun.
Pistols
Pistols are considered your sidearm in Uncharted 3, which can come in handy in special situations. There are four unlockable pistols in the game: Para 9, Arm Micro, Raffica Pistol, and Tau Sniper. Pistols are generally good for short range targets. Below is a description of each pistol.
Special Guns
Special guns are unlockabale by completing treasure sets under 'Legendary Sets'. Special guns are dedicated to a certain character and feature two or three mods. Some of them also feature a special camo pattern. See 'Treasures' for more information on these guns.
Boosters
Boosters are sort of like perks that can improve the way you play. You can have two boosters in each seperate loadout. Boosters can basically improve your game in any way. For example, one booster drops a live grenade upon death, while another regenerates your health faster. Boosters also have levels, which the higher level you are for the booster, the better it will function. You can level up by completing tasks using the booster. For example, the Weapon Expert booster requires you to get a certain amount of 'Gunslinger' medals before you can rank up the booster.

Drake's Skin + Drake's AK + Drake's Para 9 = Explosive Buddy
Sully's Skin + Sully's Dragon + Sully's Arm Micro = For My Buddy
Elena's Skin + Elena's G-MAL + Elena's Raffica = Thanks Buddy
Chloe's Skin + Chloe's M9 + Chloe's Tau = For My Buddy
Marlowe's Skin + Marlowe's M9 + Marlowe's Para 9 = Sugar Buddy
Talbot's Skin + Talbot's FAL-SS + Talbot's Arm Micro = Stealth Buddy
Rameses' Skin + Rameses' KAL-7 + Rameses' Raffica = Booty Buddy
Remember that you cannot use different variants of the same character to use the third booster. Also, if you reach level 75 and use legacy mode, you unlock boosters that are not beneficial. For example, using one of these boosters will slow you down while aiming or carry less ammo. Using one of these boosters will earn you more cash per kill.
Mods
Mods are technically attachments you can place on your weapon to improve the way it works. For example, you can place a mod that increases the gun's clip size or even reload speed. Mods are unlockable as you level up and can be purchased with cash. There are several mods to use for each weapon, and you can use one mod per gun, unless you use the Weapon Expert booster.
Kickbacks
Kickbacks are certain items you can obtain if you earn the correct amount of medals. If you earn enough medals while playing, you can get, for example, an RPG. Other kickbacks include insta-boom grenades, cluster bombs, a bolt action sniper, an M32 grenade launcher, and even a juggernaut which increases your health for a short amount of time. If you die, the medals you earned can still count toward a kickback.

CUSTOMIZING A CHARACTER SKIN
Character skins are people you can use when you play a match. You can choose from a character skin that you've unlocked, such as Nathan Drake, or you may customize your own character skin.
Customizing an Unlocked Character Skin
Say for example you have Nathan Drake set as your hero appearance. Well, you can customize the character skin to personalize him the way you want. First off, you can unlock special items, for example a Ball Cap for Nathan Drake, by completing treasure sets. (See more about treasures later in the guide). You may also change the color of his/her pants or shirt by pressing the X button on the character, and pressing the triangle button when you navigate on the pants or shirt feature. You will then be given a variety of colors to use on your character.
Customizing a Custom Character Skin
If you want to use your own custom hero or villain for playing, there are many items to choose from to personalize your very own character. You can place shirts, pants, hats, glasses, and more on him. Like the unlocked character skin, you may also adjust the colors of the clothing items by repeating the same action described above. Items for your character skin can be purchased with your earned cash. But, some items may be expensive and require saving.
GAME MODES
There are a variety of playable game modes to choose from in the game, anything from Team Deathmatch to Team Objective. There are competitive and co-op game modes. Competitive is pretty self explanatory; you face off against other players. Co-op is where you work together to complete a certain objective.

You may choose from many different shapes, which some need to be unlocked, and then purchased with your Uncharted cash. Your emblem will show up while not in a lobby on a small flag-like cloth behind you, and on your profile. An emblem also may appear above your head while playing, and may appear on the map if you are doing the best.
CLAN TAGS
Simply navigate to your profile while not in a lobby, and select 'Clan Tag'. Enter a four digit combination of your choice, and press 'Start' to save it. The clan tag will then appear next to your name. Clan Tags are designed for grouping clans, but they can also state anything you desire.
TREASURES
Treasure Chests
Treasure chests appear in Co-op and Competitive modes. Usually, treasure chests open up for players to grab every minute or so. To pick up a treasure, simply run to the treasure chest that is open, and press triangle. Normally, you will get a 'Three Medal Pickup', but there are some times where you will pick up an actual treasure.
Treasure Pickups
Occasinally when an enemy is killed, he will drop a treasure. If you or your buddy pick up this treasure, you will both get a reward. It is more common to pick up cash or a duplicate treasure from these pick ups, so it will take patience to find new and rare ones. To pick up this treasure, walk or run to the treasure chest icon that is a yellowish or green color, and press triangle.
Treasure Sets
Completing treasure sets will unlock you a special item. To view your treasure sets, press the Square button while not in a lobby, and use the right directional to navigate to 'Records'. You can select 'Treasures' and view them their. Below are the treasure sets you can complete:

MISSIONS
Missions are purchasable objectives to complete. If you complete a mission, you will be rewarded with more cash than you bought the mission for. If you would like to purchase a mission, press Square while not in a lobby, go to 'Records' using the directionals, and select 'Missions'. You can purchase any of the missions if you have enough cash and have them unlocked. An example of a mission could be "G-MAL Kills". For example, you would need to get 18 G-MAL kills in a certain amount of time. Completing the mission will reward you with cash.
RANKING UP
After earning the required amount of XP, you will rank up. Ranking up to a new level will unlock you special rewards, which include new guns, character skins, mods, boosters, kickbacks, and more. There are 75 levels to complete.
Legacy
Legacy is like prestige in the Call of Duty series. Once you reach level 75, you are allowed to use legacy mode. To use legacy, press Square while not in a lobby, and navigate to 'Records'. Below you should see 'Legacy'. Press X on that, and proceed to begin from level 1 again. Legacy mode will basically reset everything, so you will be unlocking everything again. The only thing that stays is the characters that you have purchased, and treasures. Legacy will also unlock you non-beneficial boosters and a fancy emblem with your level number on it. Once you complete all three legacy, you will be considered a 'Star Rank'.
CO-OP BASICS
Co-op modes are focused around teamwork, which will require working together to complete the mission or objective. There are three co-op modes: Co-op Adventure, Co-op Arena, and Co-op Hunter Arena.
Voting and Choosing a Difficulty
When you are in a lobby with two other players, you will be ready to vote. First, you will vote for a map or a mission. If you're playing Co-op Adventure, you will vote for a mission. For Co-op Arena or Hunter Arena, you will vote for a map. To vote, navigate over to the voting area and press X on the desired map / mission you would like to play. Then, you will be brought over to vote for one of four difficulties: Easy, Normal, Hard, or Crushing. Navigate over to the voting area and vote for the desired difficulty you would like to play.
Co-op Adventure
Co-op Adventure are missions you can play with others. They are story like missions that you can play and complete. Usually, each Co-op Adventure mission should take some time and hard work, because depending on your difficulty, it gets harder and harder. If you are playing on Crushing difficulty, expect to see clowns, which are enemies with clown masks. Below are the missions for Co-op Adventure:
Nate, Chloe and Sully arrive at Lazarevic's camp in Borneo. Lt Draza appears above them, ordering a light armored soldier to get a container ready for Mr.Lazarevic. The three of them did not bring guns as they didn't expect anyone to be there, so after Draza disappears they steal guns from patrolling soldiers. After clearing the area, one of three breaks open a containers. Inside, they find one fourth of a carved stone tablet. After fighting through the camp and aquiring the other three pieces, Lt Draza appears with a Dragon Sniper. After taking down Draza and his guards, the trio piece together the four pieces. Sully notes that there is a priceless statue similar to the tablet in the Vatican. Drake isn't sure exactly, but tells the others they're heading to London to find out.
Nate, Sully and Cutter arrive deep within Katherine Marlowe's base. Cutter mentions a surprise to speed things up, but Nate states firmly that he wants to get in and get out, no shooting. A few seconds later, however, agents smoke bomb in. After clearing the room, Cutter plants C4 charges on a weak wall blocking their path. The trio race to cover, but the C4 fails to detonate, much to Cutter's disappointment. Instead, an RPG-7 is used to blow the wall away. While they are squeezing through the gap beyond the destroyed wall, however, the beeping of Cutter's C4 is heard. They just get through before the ceiling collapses behind them. When they reach the secret library, Nate rips a page out of Marlowe's book, explaining it would lead them to the monastery. Smoke bombs are thrown in, and Marlowe's agents drop down. After defeating the agents, the trio begin to make their way up to the surface. They push a small carriage up the train tracks in order to access North Atwood Station. After charging outside, they are greeted by a swarm of agents, including a tank and M32-Hammer weilding enemy. After the tank is destroyed, Chloe pulls up in her van. The three men get in, and the van speeds away.
Elena, Sully and Chloe awake to find themselves tied to wooden posts deep within the monastery on the island from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Elena soon realises Nate is missing, and a pirate states he is dead. After breaking free, the trio fight their way into the church, where they discover Nate trapped beneath a small trapdoor. After rescuing him, they leave the church. Outside, Nate is hit in the leg by a sniper, but tells the others they need to get to the statue in the center of the courtyard. Once he is carried to the statue, he explains that he must examine the statue to get the clues he needs. RPG weilding pirates soon appear, however, and attempt to destroy the statue. Upon defeating the pirates, Nate signals Cutter's chopper. Cutter arrives shortly after, and Nate is bundled into the helicopter.
Elena, Sully and Nate (who has now recovered from his leg injury) arrive at the Syrian castle. Nate shows the two of them the circular object he acquired from the Monastery, telling them it would reveal a clue somewhere here in the castle. He guesses it could be the tower on the opposite side of the castle, which has an enemy helicopter circling it. The trio fight their way through a corrider, before being attacked by a helicopter as they attempt to open a door. They plunge into a sewer like room beneath the castle, escaping the helicopter. They swim and climb to safety, finding themselves within another courtyard, just below the tower. Nate realises that he must put the circular object on a large symbol in the ground. He does this, causing a puzzle to be activated. In order to access the tower, the trio place four idols on four different blocks. Upon reaching the fourth idol, however, a large agent, known as the Brute, steals it and attacks them with his PAK-80. After he is killed, the final idol is placed and the trio can scale the wall of the tower. They reach it, and find the statue they were looking for. Before they can grab it, however, two enemy helicopters appear. In a short battle of RPG vs machine gun, the helicopters are destroyed and the heroes finally get the statue. They soon realise it is only half, however. Nate knows Lazarevic has the other half, and they set out to steal it.
Nate, Cutter and Sully arrive at the Yemen airfield. They soon spot Harry Flynn, Eddy Raja and Lazarevic by a cargo plane. Nate finds this weird, calling it 'some kind of twisted reunion.' They have the other half of the statue, however, and Nate, Cutter and Sully fight their way through the airport until they reach them. Lazaervic wields a shotgun, Eddy uses a Tau Sniper and Flynn, a Dragon Sniper. After the three of them are defeated, Nate and Sully piece the two halves together.
Co-op Arena / Hunter Arena
In Co-op Arena, you will be faced against ten waves of soldiers. There are three objectives to complete while eliminating the enemies: Survival, Siege, and Gold Rush. See below for a description of these three objectives:
It is quite noticable when you play on a harder difficulty, 'Siege' and 'Gold Rush' appear as objectives more, considering they are the harder objectives to play. There are many different types of enemies to defeat, which are listed below
If you ever need to be revived, a teammate can hold down triangle while near you to fill up the round bar. You can also do the same, and you will be given full health when you are revived.
If all teammates are killed before anyone is revived, the team will lose three lives. Also note that the harder the difficulty, the less team lives you are given to use in the game.
Co-op Hunter Arena is basically the same as Co-op Arena, except you also face real humans.
POWER WEAPONS
Power weapons are weapons in the game that you can find that have high amounts of damage. Power weapons are spread all around each of the maps. There are eight power weapons, including a Riot Sheild to find. The list of Power Weapons can be found below:

Brilliant guide! However I would like to add that the requirements of a few medals are of Uncharted 2 if I'm not mistaken. Like the "Assistant" medal in UC3 requires three, not five assists. But still, kudos to you for making this amazing guide.
