Why no love for Team Objective? Great mode but needs fixes! [Updated 28 August]

Patch 1.13, the so called biggest patch ever, has gone by. In it, included 2 fixes for Team Objective. One fixed the multi marked man rage quitting, and the other put Deathmatch to round 5. I have no idea why ND did not get rid of Deathmatch in one of only 2 Objective modes in the game, but it is stupid!

After the forum migrated back to Lithium, this thread has had little support. Even now it only has a measly 28 something kudos, when I know back on the old forums, it topped 60 likes which shows people want to see these fixes happen. I'm not gonna put the kudos in the title or something like that, but really if Team Objective fans want to see anything here happening, they need to start supporting again!

I have lost little hope we will see new medals, individual gametypes or new modes. But perhaps there is still hope for a new points system and completely random modes? We will see.

The Issues and Problems

 

Big Issues - Fix these first!

 

  • Team Objective is not random. Come on! KOTR or CR always first, Deathmatch always third. Why?? Why is the first hill always the same if it's the first round?
  • Marked Man leaves = no new marked man. This is a serious glitch and is possibly one of the first that needs to be addressed.
  • Deathmatch should just go. It ruins the objective feel.

 

Smaller Issues - Still need fixing but not a priority!

 

  • For some reason, even if you survive the whole marked man round you don't get hard target. I mean really?
  • You only get 1 point for a kill in DM and 1 point for a marked man kill. Should be changed, for example 10 points per Deathmatch kill and 25 points per marked man kill.
  • Turf War points are messed up. Trust me, they are.
  • No points on chain reaction - why???
  • The hill should change after a team gets a certain number of points, rather than a timer. This will give a team a chance if the opposite team is dominating.

 

Additions - not problems but will improve Objectives (in my opinion)


  • There should be an objectives points leaderboard as well as a plunder captures leaderboard.
  • There should be, at the very least, indivual gametypes for KOTH, Turf War etc in custom games, or public if possible. They don't have to be their own playlist, and they don't have to replace the mixed one either. Why not both? (read below for more deltail)
  • New medals (I have had some ideas below)

 

 

 

 

Playlists - Individual Gametypes

 

There would be two playlists - Random Objectives and Team Objective (though I thiink ND can come up with better name)

 

Random Objective

 

Random Objective would contain King of the Hill, Turf War, Multi-Marked man, Treasure Hunter, Chain Reaction and maybe even a new gametype.

King of the Hill - 1000 points target, hill resets every 1m30s

Turf War - 1500 points target, hills reset every 3mins

Chain Reaction - Same as usual. Could possibly have a best of 3 system to keep it going longer.

Treasure Hunter - 650 points target

Multi-marked Man - 15 kill target

 

Team Objective

 

Team Objective would be the same as it is now, to keep everyone happy.

 

This would not split the player pools too much, right?

 

 

 

 

New Medals

 

I have also had some ideas for medals, because there are TWO TO exclusive medals. TWO. Not sure on names yet though.

 

Vice-like - Hold onto the idol in Treasure Hunter for over a minute without dropping it - $1000

The King - Stay in the hill for over a minute without dying or leaving the hill - $500 (can get multiple)

Team Player - Get over 150 points in a single match - $1000

Clean Sweap - Capture all five chain reaction zones without dying - $1500

Perfect Team - Hold all three Turf War zones for over 30 seconds - $1500

Doing all the Work - Beat all your other teammates by at least 30 points - $750

Persistent - Kill the treasure carrier three times - $250

Greedy - Hold onto the idol in Treasure Hunter the whole time - $750 (suggested by TheExtracter)

 

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm open to suggestions.

 

 

 

 

New Gametypes Suggestions

 

Suggest modes!

 

Quick-Score - A mini plunder with 2 scores. Lasts 4 minutes.

Treasure Hunt - An idol spawns completely randomly on the map (to an extent - not in the air or inside a wall) with no marker or any symbol telling players where it is. Whoever gets to it first gets the point. First to 10 points.

Infected - Two people turn into skeletons (like cursed). Points for protecting your infected and killing the other. (Suggested by vfr_isnt_fun)

Traitor - One player on each team is moved to the other side. Points are awarded for killing the traitor on your side. (Suggested by vfr_isnt_fun)

Gold Rush - Two idols, one belonging to each team. Each has a timer, and the fastest an idol is scored the more points you earn. (Suggested by Alluboy_ Check post 200 of this thread for a more detailed explanation of the mode.)

Unchained Reaction - The five hills that will normally show up for Chain Reaction will be selected in a random order and at the start one will be randomly lit. Whichever team has control after 45 seconds will recieve a point. After a point is given, the next random hill will light up. This continues for all 5 hills. Control of a hill is definsed by whoever has the most players in the hill. Best out of 5. (Suggested by xSKIN_N_BONESx - Check post 249 of this thread for a more detailed explaination of the mode.)

How I think points should work:

 

At the moment points don't make a lot of sense... Some modes give a lot of points and some don't. The first thing to do is make sure points mean something. At the moment, there is no real incentive to get points. Firstly, some new medals (see above) that involve point totals. Secondly, make them give a cash value. Let's say, every 5 points = $100. So for 100 points, you would get $2,000. I'm not even sure if that is enough but I don't want to go too high due to the next problem... boosters.

 

Chain Reaction


We all know about the Chain Reaction farming in Uncharted 2, and I think that's why you don't get any points at all in Chain Reaction. Well, instead of completely removing them they should edit them. Here's are 2 possibilities:

 

  • You gain 10 points for capturing a hill, but lose those points if it is recaptured. So, the max points is 50.
  • The faster you capture the hill since the start of the match, the more points you get. For example, in the first 10 seconds = 25. First 30 seconds = 15. Etc, etc. Boosters would be at a disadvatange as they wouldn't be able to get any serious points if they lingered, as after the first minute captures are worth nothing.


Marked Man

 

This is another mode that gives low points. A marked man kill should give you 30 points, like it was in the beta. For staying alive as marked man you should get one point per second.

 

Deathmatch

 

If ND don't get rid of it, then 30 points for a kill, 15 points for an assist.

 

Treasure Hunter

 

I believe that those in close proximity to the treasure carrier should get 1 point every 2 seconds. This way they get rewarded for risking their lives by protecting their treasure carrier.

 

Turf War

 

Points are seriously glitchy in this mode. If you are in a hill, then you get 1 point per second, no matter how many are in it. Simple.

 

King of the Hill

 

Points are perfect here.

Edit: 1 May: Wow, over 40 likes! Last time I looked it was 20 something, I guess these sigs are working to raise awareness of the thread. Let's hope it is enough to convince ND to at least implement some of the stuff listed here.

Edit: 9 May: Woot! We made it over 50 likes! I never expected the thread to be as popular as the customisation or classic mode thread (and it isn't) but I wasn't expecting that kind of response either! Team Objective players unite!

Even though I like Team OBJ, I don't play it much (for whatever reason). But I agree that these fixes should be implemented. It's unfair that other modes get the shaft. But I don't think the Turf War points are messed up

Hmm, how are they not? They seem to distribute them oddly... Sometimes I will get 1 point, then the game gives my teammate also in the zone 4 points. It makes no sense.

This is my favorite game mode so I really would like to see some fixes happen. Also, I wish they would take Deathmatch out of TO completely. It just doesn't belong.

Shame that this mode is a bit messed up because I think it's the best in the game, it is so dynamic, the game changes every few minutes, however, it is frustrating that the same order of objectives is applied and that they are always identical. For example, think of a King of the Hill match right in the middle of Molten Ruins instead of the top dome or the same boring right side of the map. Treasure Hunter should be a quick Plunder match to get 2 captures, would be much more entertaining than simply holding the damn idol... Think of a double Marked man objective, 4 VIPs running around the map, there are really a lot of options for this mode...

I think it's unfair that TO kills are not counted in the leaderboard, the title of the Leaderboard says "Global Kills - Competitive Modes", last time I checked, TO was a competitive mode...

It's boring. I used to be addicted to this mode when the game first came out, then I started playing TDM. My 2 fave modes are TDM & Co-op addventure/hunter arena. ^_^

No thank you, people would farm kills and not play the objective, it's already pretty bad with the treasure kill farmers, but you want to give them another reason to farm?

I play Team Objective more than anything else and love it (usually). Nobody likes the fact that deathmatch is always third, let alone in there at all. Honestly, I feel that Chain Reaction should always be first, then everything else randomized. I don't think seperate playlists is the way to go. I don't want the playlist divided even further. I also don't feel a leaderboard is needed because honestly, who cares? People will just start sitting inside a turf during Turf War to boost their points, which might cost their team the game. Multi Marked Man was kind of a half-assed after thought that is totally broken. The already known Marked Man leaving has caused my team to lose the game on several ocassions against other parties (They often do it intentionally). And there needs to be some sort of science for how the Marked Man is assigned. Sometimes one person will be assigned all 5 times. I think it should go down the line on the scorecard. And lastly, I think they need to at least have seperate objective modes in customs, or even so that you can pre set what objectives show up and in what order.

Well perhaps there could be two playlists -Team Objective (what we have now) and Objectives which features KOTH, Treasure Hunter etc randomised to come up in the voting. I don't know I just really want a King of the Hill 1000 points target game. I love KOTH, so chaotic .
