Re: Warhawk Create game with more than 4 max players???

Sep 8, 2007
Most people who get DSL lines, and don't already know better, get the cheapest option available, which is usuall 256kbits/s of both upload and download. Most 3D games require around 60 kbits of bandwidth per connected player for a server to run without lag. When I first started running PC dedicated servers for Star Wars Battlefront, I used a bandwidth monitor and figured out in detail how much bandwidth was used for different numbers of players.

What matters is your UPLOAD bandwidth. Providers will push deals on you promising 5 kbits of download bandwidth, and it's nice to have, but for hosting a game, it doesn't do diddly squat. They're each sending you 10kbits, and you're sending them each 60 kbits.

Since 256k is limiting to 4 players in warhawk, apparently it's working out to about 64k per player. Typically the next level up will give you 896k of upload (at least Qwest does) so if you switch to that you'll be able to host up to 12 players lag-free, maybe a little more or less.

I got DSL and I can still host 12 People . But I think if you connection is running through a router it might slow down your connection, so if you can, run your PS3 connection directly through your modem. Also would your bandwidth speed be controlled the the length of the ethernet cord your using for your PS3? (Mines a 60 foot ethernet cord that goes from my PS3 to my router elohel)

Hello WH friends

i was able to host 16 player ranked the other day and now i can't, its capped to 4 player max.

I did a speed test and my upload speed is 946kbp, but warhawk can not seem to detect it
when its calculating bandwidth, its giving me 0s?

can this be fixed?

what is the "nat type" of your router on the PS3's network settings.

You need a faster upload than that to host a 12 person room, with that upload it probably wont let you do more than 4.

I can host a 24 player room but this is my upload

ping2

Let me know what your nat type is, what your router is, what your modem is, and if you are going wired or wireless and i'll try to give you some things to try to speed up your connection.
